Update 4-1-04
The Upper Mississippi Power Boaters are please to announce the Liquid Jungle Poker Run will be august 21st this year. This year all proceed will be donated to the Epilepsy Foundation.
It’s hard to believe it’s already April. It seemed like winter was never going to end. We have had a lot of wonderful feedback form last year’s event. It was a huge success! We’ve even received registrations forms already.
For anyone who is unfamiliar with the Liquid Jungle Poker Run, here is a run down of the event. We put on a full on poker run (80 plus miles) on pools 4(lake Pepin) and 5 of the Upper Mississippi River. We have moved the drivers meeting to Great River Harbor this year. Again this year the pace boat will be provided by Revolutionmarine.com. We will again be doing the grand prix start at the south end of lake Pepin. We are still working with local establishments, to determine all of our stops. We will again be ending at Great River Harbor. After the poker run we will be having a hog roast with all the fixings (armbands included with registration), and a live band playing into the night, like last year.
We have also hired a professional photographer to videotape the event. A completely edited video of the poker run will be available.
Make your slip reservations by calling the Great River Harbor at 608-248-2454. Please be sure and tell them, that you are coming for the poker run.
The Upper Mississippi Power Boaters have teamed up with Midwestboatparty.com to provide a website. Information, registrations forms, and photos from the poker run will be available. The poker run section of the site should be up and running soon, so check it out. Any questions or comments can be emailed to Liquidjunglepokerrun@hotmail.com

Here is a picture of Mandy and I driving the 50' Scarab pace boat. Last year Todd from revolutionmarine.com was gracious enough to use his 50 scarab as the pace boat. Revolution Marine will again be providing the pace boat this year. If all goes as plan the pace boat will be Gary's triple 650 powered 40' Hustler. [smilie=061.gif]

Okay here we go!!!
Liquid Jungle Poker Run 2004!!
-A benefit for the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota-
Listed here are the stops planned for the poker run to be held on August 21st, 2004. Lunch will be each person’s own financial responsibility, as will any other refreshments purchased at the establishments.
Our goal is to put on an event that will be the highlight of the 2004 boating season. We will be making a 100 mile round trip with stops at some of the Upper Mississippi Rivers finest establishment, as well as passing miles upon mile of breath taking scenery.
Our first priority is safety and we will be sharing a few simple guidelines during the day to ensure the maximum enjoyment by everyone involved. Once you arrive at the card stop, please hang out and wait for all the boats to get their cards before continuing on. This will help keep everyone together so we can all enjoy the scenery of fiberglass and hardware.
Boat launch and truck and trailer parking will be free for Poker Run participants at Great River Harbor. The launch is plenty big and deep to accommodate crafts of very large size. Boat parking will be available to Poker Run participants at the main dock. Participants will be allowed to overnight at the main dock, but water and electricity cannot be guaranteed. If you would like to rent a private slip with water and electricity call Great River Harbor at 608-248-2454 to reserve one (when reserving slips please be sure to tell them that you are coming for the poker run).
The upper Mississippi power boaters have teamed up with a professional cameraman and helicopter pilot to bring you an action packed video of the poker run. The video will contain footage shot throughout the day including both ground footage as well as helicopter footage of all the boats participating in the run. The video will be for sale to poker run participants as well as the general public. The price as well as information on obtaining a copy will be available the day of the run.
Staff will be available on site to answer any questions or address any concerns you have the day of the event.
Start/Drivers Meeting/Card 1
We will be starting from Great River Harbor (mile marker 748). Every person involved in the Poker Run will need to sign a waiver at this point. Drivers meeting will be at 9:45 am shooting for a 10 am departure. We will be leaving Great River Harbor and heading upstream to lock through lock and dam #4(mile marker 763). We will then be venturing upstream slowing for a NO WAKE (mile marker 760) in front of Wabasha MN (Home of “Grumpy old Men”). There will be a lot of boat congestion from Wabasha to the Southern Mouth of Lake Pepin. We ask that everyone take caution, run at a max of 2 abreast and travel at a slowed pace through this area.
Card Stop 2/ Grand Prix Start
(17 miles from start/card 1)
We will be having a drive by card stop at the south mouth of lake Pepin (mile marker 765approx.). After everyone has received his or her cards we will be having a Grand Prix Start. Everyone will need to line up one deep behind the flag/pace boat, forming a line across the lake. The flag/pace boat will bring everyone up onto plane, then raise the green flag. Once the green flag is raised, boats will be allowed to pass the pace/flag boat. We will then be heading upstream passing Lake City Minnesota then through the Northern Mouth of Lake Pepin slowing for a NO WAKE by Colvill Municipal park (mile marker 788.4). After the NO WAKE we will be continuing on to another NO WAKE in front of Historic Red Wing MN.
Card Stop 3 (25.5 miles from card 2)
Harbor Bar across the channel from Red Wing MN. (mile marker 790.5) Parking will be provided in front of and next to the Harbor Bar (rafting may be necessary). We should be arriving here near lunchtime. We will be breaking for a bite to eat and some socializing. This will be our farthest point North. We will be leaving and traveling downstream retracing our previous course for a long run to the Pioneer Supper Club again with a slow for the NO WAKE in Wabasha MN.
Card Stop 4 (37.5 miles from Card 3)
Pioneer Supper Club (mile marker 753) docking will again be provided in front of the Pioneer Supper Club. Please observe NO WAKE near the docks. The dock space will be limited, but given the very calm current of the backwaters and the NO WAKE, rafting up will be a breeze. We need to lock through Lock and Dam #4 to reach our next card stop. We will be in contact with the lockmaster and will be judging the length of our stay based on the availability of the lock. Once locked through we will continue downstream to Lock and Dam #5.
Card stop 5 (14 miles from card 4)
We will make our final card stop a drive by stop just north of lock and dam #5(mile marker 739approx.). This will be our farthest point south. We will then return upstream, venturing back to the Great River Harbor for the finish of the run.
Finish (9 miles from Card 5)
Great River Harbor (mile marker 748) is located cozily in the backwaters on the WI side of the channel. At mile marker 748 you will see red and green buoys leading into the backwaters on the East side of the cannel. Following the buoys will wind you back to Great River Harbor. Please observe the NO WAKE zone. Temporary and overnight docking will be provided at the main dock. This will be our Head Quarters for our card turn-in and prize giveaway. We will also be having a hog roast with all the fixings as well as a live band playing into the night. Everyone is welcome to overnight if you should so choose.
Get started now! - Please have your completed registration form returned to us by August 1st 2004.
Thank You!!

Hey Advantage, most of Team TripleFFF just got back from a run to Dubuque including us, so most are laying low this weekend. At least that what we say now. I know that there is a couple of birthdays this weekend so I have heard that a get together is starting to wind up for Presccott on Saturday. Hopefully we will be at TI on friday but that is still up in the air. Look me up, I am on B dock.

There is just a shortage of 2 seater. There are plenty of 4 seaters around. We wanted a 2 seater initially due the fact it was far more economical than the 4 seater. But as we all know the 2 seat isn't an option anymore. So staying true to desire to put on a first class poker run, we have a 4 seater coming.
I'm already looking forward to the footage.

Update.
With only a few days left things are shaping up great. Everything seems to be falling in place just like it should. We had a couple BIG suprises in store for everyone. For reasons that will be explained later these changes won't be aired on the internet. I'd be more than happy to discuss it in private if anyone wants to know before Saturday. Otherwise it will be buisness as usual for the Start.
We can all thank Saleen367 for the sun this weekend.

Reminder
I would like to remind everyone that the drivers meeting Saturday morning is mandatory. We are expecting a large number of boats this year. For obvious safety reasons, everyone MUST attend the drivers meeting. If you do not attend the drivers meeting you will be disqualified. Just to be clear only the driver themselves needs to attend the meeting. The boat and passengers do not need to be present.

I actually haven't heard yet. I called and talked to the office twice. The claim is "it's fixed" and your bill is in the mail explaining the repair. They didn't give me anymore or connect me with Jay( the tech that checked it out).
I had discussed the situation with Jay prior. His paln was some baseline health checks and into the computer. I'm anxious to see the results.
So we'll see. Jay nailed it last time, so hopefully his record holds. I've been impressed with his knowledge and efficiency in the past.
I'm hoping for the best. It would be great change back to my bigger prop to get in the water and see if it's in the mood [smilie=071.gif]

We had a bunch of fun. [smilie=071.gif]
Very well organized run that went off without a hitch. Super job Brian! Your team really came through on this one! [smilie=appl] It was obvious from the start that this was going to be an experience. The vibration through the water from all the boats just idling warmed the ladies right up [smilie=071.gif]
It turned out Parkside didn't get their arms around the problem on our boat and while we decided we'd try to ease it through the run, it only got worse and finally quit in Pepin. So this week I'll beat on it and see if I can get it fixed for this weekend.
Not all bad though, we met some new friends and rode with them for the rest of the day. A huge thanks to Mitch and Kim(#30) for picked us up. If they had a good Samaritan award you surely would have gotten it!
The weather was great! Heading over in the morning at a temp of 46 had Jody a little worried but it warmed right up and was comfortable.
I appreciated the courtesy call from the Redwing PD, but was unimpressed with the community as a whole. Redwing missed out. this group of boats was quite a spectacle.
The grand prix start was something to experience. Again I gotta say the Mississippi Power boater Assoc. did a super job. Thanks!
