I got my stereo upgrades done, now when the stereo is up about half volume it is fine but when it is cranked the breaker forthe stereo pops, it is a 20 amp breaker, and I am not sure on the wire size. Could it be possible that the breaker and wire needs increased? or could it be something else?

I'm no expert and don't know your system, but I have a plan to use an extra circuit that isn't being used for extra amps. I plan to use 4 ga wire for power. I don't think it is hard to get to 20amps of power. Remember Ohms Law as voltage decreases amperage goes up. So with only 12 volts as all of these systems use it is easy to bump 20amps. I think the large in line fuses for power you see in cars are rated for 50amps.

Do you have an amp wired into the breaker or is it just the receivers internal amp? My Kenwood has a 10A fuse, so if you are blowing a 20A fuse w/ just an internal amp, thats odd.

For the system i just installed in my boat, i have a 0g run to a distro block. From there i have a 4g going to 1 amp, & 2 4g runs going to the other amp. Each circuit has a 60A fuse (per manufacturer recommendation). The 0g is also fused near batt w/ a 200A fuse.

Did you just wire this amp to the factory radio power feed? If so you need to run a power wire from the battery to the amp. Alot of amps will pull more than 20 amps. Sounds like yours is pulling more power than the breaker can handel.
Gives us more info on the system upgrades.
To figure max amp draw:
Take total wattage/voltage=max amp draw.
Make sure you have proper wire size for power and ground-
Hope that helps!

I am pretty sure it is just the stereo, I will check this weekend. I didnt even think about checking to see if the factory installed amp is on the same circuit. If it is that is probably the problem. Thanks.
