Looking to make a few changes in my source unit...

I have an older Clarion unit now that I dont care for, and the only reason I want to keep it clarion is the wire harnesses havent changed. If there is another reason to change let me know!!!

these items:
CMD4 Source Unit
CMRC1-BSS (2 ea.) for remote operation with the display
1251B Ipod Interface so I can have 6,000 songs nearby.

As for the Sirius, I have the Sirius Sportster in my truck now and a cradle mounted in the boat. So I wont get the sirius redundant subscription and simply connect the AUX IN to the Sirius.

Thoughts?

I was going to use the ipod adapter for my kenwood hu, but after reading all the complaints about the interface, i decided i would find a kenwood music keg instead.

brian...

Thasnks for the links. It looks like everyone is expecting a lot out of the unit. I think it will fit my needs as far as SQ goes, with my inline antenna modulator it sounds TERRIBLE and i have tried 2 brands so far. [smilie=249.gif]

I did not see in that link anything about seek times, but I do not want you to go searching for me. I certainly appreciate you taking time to paste links for me.

thats why i was saying, u may want to ask others. i read where the clarion only supports 6 playlists (if u use playlists), which to me is week. doesnt give much options to sort by artist, genre, etc. but if your the type that just hits play & lets is go, then im sure it would be fine. just hate for u to spend $100 or so & not be happy w/ it.
good luck!

I was watching the international electronics show on tv, sony has a head unit coming out that has a built in memory for up to 1000 tunes built in to the removable faceplate, uploads from your pc just like your ipod, dont know when it will hit the market though.

shouldnt be. If you have an AUX IN on your radio you are in great shape. If you have to buy a FM Modulator, then the sound quality will be less than what you may like. I tried a few of them and WOW. It was between FM and AM quality, and it WAS connected properly with no grounding problems. Then again, I have never had great luck with those units.

I have the ipod interface for my Kenwood head unit. The interface produces great sound quality and keeps the ipod charged, but makes it very difficult to navigate your playlists on the headunit. What I have been doing so far is unplugging the ipod from the interface finding my playlist or tunes on the ipod screen and then reconnecting the ipod to the interface. I am also set up to use my ipod on the aux input, but it doesn't charge the ipod with this method. There is no difference in the quality of sound using both methods. I will agree that the FM modulators sound like chit compared to the direct hookup.
