Ok, stereo is done. Almost. Found out tonight that I need way more batterty power than what I have.
Pics of the stereo are up on my Putfile link, along with some other stuff I added & copied & had modified.

So what do you think? Caps or a 4D battery or both?

Christian

I only did caps cause they were sitting on the shelf.

Caps do not do much if the motor is off.

I would go batteries all the way. If you can fit a 4D that is aweosme, I went group 27 TRUE deep cycle for the stereo, it allowed me to fit them where they were not designed to go, but they will stay in place and not use any needed room, the sub box allready does that [smilie=whip]

I went with the Stowaways from Sam's (that way when the crap the bed, it will b eeasier to exchange, and if one dies on the road, Stowaway is a very common brand so I cna replace it, and since my battery trays are custom, I have to stay with the same form factor.

If ypou need help, just let me know, I work for beer [smilie=trink39]

are you gusy coming Saturday evening (Laura is, so it is a good wife's night [smilie=1074.gif] )

No, Jeanne is out on Margarita's "it's smokey". Well, duh, it's a bar [smilie=265.gif]

As far as the battery thing, I have a 4D on the shelf in the garage that I use if I need a jump or something. I guess I'll order some battery trays & put a little more lead in the back. [smilie=1381.gif]
So much for saving weight, guess I'll just have to haul less beer.

Margarita's is out, now they are talking Shadow out east

a 4d is awesome, but I would want to keep that much weight centered in the hull

use it if it is good or two 27 for west marine or wal world. 2 for stereo work great for me and 2 for the motors. look good see you on the water.

The 4D would be the way to go & I can center it, but it is so HEAVY. I hate to have it in there. Where in the hell would I even find a good looking tray to fit it?

Just curious if you have children... [smilie=050.gif]

Looks great. How did you mount the amps to the side? Is there wood or some other mounting surface? I would be scared i would but a screw right thru my hull.

You might need to upgrade your alternator if you're going to play the stereo much while underway, because if stereo demands are greater than alternator output the batteries will never get charged.

Looks great, but one question, Is that amp protected from water getting to it being kind of outside like it is?

JasonSmith

Thanks for all the concern guys.

SinkorSwim -The speakers will have some billet grills over them.

glenn at glencove - The amps won't get wet because boats aren't made for getting wet. Unless you happen to get mixed up in the fcking gauntlet in PC. I'm still pissed about that, not to mention those assholes ruined my carpet with that nasty ****ing pc water. But I'm not bitter [smilie=101.gif]

Barry -I'm not upgrading the alt's, we won't be playing it that loud underway & that is why I have an onboard charger. (won't help on the water)

baja232brian - There is no wood behind the amps, I used aluminum plating and aluminum "L" channel for support.

tim - you are right

Now, if anything breaks, I'll be pissed cuz it was double tough to get the amps mounted. I'll never do that again. I'm still pickin fiberglass out if my hands & the little slivers that ram themselves under your fingernails HURT!
I had to drink at least a case of beer to do each amp.

WAS YOUR BOAT REALLY AT LAKE X?
Well yea, I've got the sticker to prove it don't I?
Really it was not. I had a lake x sticker modified to fit my speed. Merc doesn't do the stickers with the mph achieved for each boat.
Made you think about it though didn't it?
BTW I can have that sticker made with any speed that a person would want. Cost like $5 bucks for a couple of them I think.
