I am upgrading my speakers on the boat,

I am replacing 8 Sony XS-F1721 35w/140w Max 4ohm

with

8 infinity kappa 602m 75w/225w Max
and
2 kicker km10 10" Subs, 125w/250w Max

Currently I have one amp in the boat, a Sony XM-4060GTX 600w 4/3 Channel

Question:

Can I use the existing amp for the new speakers or the subs?

If I can use the existing amp for the Subs what amp should I get for he speakers?

Any recomendation would be appreciated.

I cannot answer the question at hand, but I would like to ask why you are replaceing them?
Brand new boat? and new speakers. Is it just not enough for you?
Or is there something wrong with the speakers?

I am just not happy with them, they arent marine rated wich I know doesnt matter to alot of people, I just wanted a little more clarity of sound when running down the lake, we didnt have a sub and I wanted to add one, I had the Infinity Kappa in a boat I used to have and I really liked the sound out of them.

Looking at the specs for the amp, it does not support a 2 channel mode, so using it for the subs doesnt sound practical.

You could use it to drive your coaxs. You have 8 speakers, so if you wired 2 speakers per channel, giving you 2ohm load (which your amp supports) this provides about 38w per speaker.

Personally w/ your speakers, i would just buy a nice 4 channel amp. Your going to need more power to run the Infinitys.

So should I go ahead and get two amps, one for the speakers and one for the subs?

I would, but its not my money. [smilie=trink39]

I am in the process of adding a near identical system. I have 8 Kicker 6.5" 65w/175w coaxs & 2 JL Audio 10" subs. Right now i am weighing the cost to practicalness of what amps i want to use. I have it narrowed down to either a RF P4004 (about 125w/ch @ 2ohm) or a P8004 (about 230w/ch @ 2ohm). That puts me near 60w & 115w per speaker respectfully. I dont want to be under powered but at same time spend more $$ then i have to on something that gets used infrequently. The 4004 goes for around $155 on ebay while the 8004 is around $365. I may try & "trial" an amp to see how much power i really need.

The sub amp of course is another dilemma....

While on the subject: How much stereo can I operate Safely, Hell or Unsafely with
7.2 KW Genset?
Do I need to allow for running the A/C for Bottomless Pit, Jst4Cyn, Adult Entertainment and KeepRWet? Plus Double Blended's Pack of Blenders...

OK, would these amps be sufficient for my speaker set up?

-For the Subs-
Kenwood KAC 7202
2-channel
150w RMS x 2

-For the Infinities-
Kenwood KAC 8452
4-channel
100w * 4 @ 2 ohms

Power wise those amps match well & they look to get good reviews. Ive never owned a Kenwood amp so i dont know first hand much on their rated vs actual power & dependability. Maybe someone else will chime in w/ opinions.

So many different ways you can do it. I have 2, dual voice coil 10" subs ran in parallel, to a Directed Audio 1500d Mono amp pushing 1200 watts RMS @ 1 ohm (http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/2668) and they are THUMPING!!!!!!

Good rule of thumb is, you can Never have to much power for your subs. It takes a lot to push the lows. Also more people blow speakers because they don't have enough watts from their amps, they turn it up to the point where your amplifing the distortion.

IMO you need more power in both amps. If you can buy better amps and a couple speakers, then add more speakers later. You want to be able to hear it going WOT.

I just "re-did" mine, I went with 2 rockford fosgate amplifiers.

p6001bd for the duel voice coil 12" subwoofer (T212D4)
and
p6002 for the highs (4 speakers).

I STILL have problems getting the bass out of the floor compartment though, just the design on my Searay I have to deal with.
