I stopped by the hotel over lunch today to check it out, verify the location, look at next door hotels and check the drive time to Fuel.
First, the address is
6300 W. 110th St.
Overland Park, KS
You have to exit off of I-435 on Metcalf and go south to 110th then east to the hotel, or you can exit I-435 on Nall and go south to 110th, then west to the hotel. It’s diagonal from the Sheraton and OP Convention center, just off that little roundabout in the map. [smilie=042.gif]
Second, the only other hotel even remotely within walking distance is the Sheraton, and that’s a long walk. Even though the Sheraton has an indoor pool, the security is tight because the pool is pretty close to the lobby and you need a key to get in the pool area.
Third, the drive to Fuel was exactly 5 minutes at 12:30 pm, going back to the hotel would be about 7-8 minutes because of the lights.
Fourth, the Chase hotel looks a lot like an apartment complex, nothing like a hotel. There are 14 separate 2.5 story buildings and each has one has 8 rooms (4 studio, 4 2 BR suites shown below). There’s a social area in the lobby where they have a buffet breakfast and we can gather and wait for the bus in the evening. They will try to put as many of us together in the same buildings as they can, but sometimes people overstay their reservation and it’s hard to do. I think some of the boat show people are staying there too. They have a pool and hot tub that have been winterized and covered by expensive tarps, so watch your step. [smilie=265.gif]
SOMEHOW the Drury Inn found out where we were staying and called Chase yesterday to warn them that the police were called the last time we were in town. Sounds like sour grapes to me, but please don’t be loud and stupid outside your room. [smilie=011.gif]
We don’t care if your stupid ass gets kicked out and has to sleep in your car, but we want to come back next year and we don’t want the police out there harassing the rest of us. Anyone caught being loud outside their room will be forced to eat an old pair of DB’s underwear,
which is much worse than anything the police would do.
