Wish we could go to LOTO, but AudioS girl and I are taking the camper to Perry for a good weekend of boobs, beer, and boating. Who is going to join us?

For anyone from out of town who might want to join us at Perry the weekend of the 4th, and you need a place to stay close to the lake, here's two Bed & Breakfasts close by that would be happy to accomodate you -
Cedar Falls B&B - (785) 727-0231 (Joan, owner) They charge $70 a night (full-size bed) or $80 (queen-size) and that includes a snack when you check in and breakfast in the morning. Tax is already figured into those prices.
The Barn B&B - (785) 945-3225. They charge $136 a night (king-size bed with private bath) and that includes dinner and breakfast. The price includes tax already.
I have not stayed at them but both have been highly recommended and both owners were very helpful on the phone. Perry Marina still has some slips available if anyone wants to sleep on their boat, for that matter.
There will be fireworks the night of Sat. July 2nd - they're usually very good!
Saturday the 2nd there is supposed to be a BUI check point at the bridge leaving party cove so we might do a raft up somewhere else.

That ought to be entertaining...they should be finished sometime the next day if they stop everyone.
I think you'll have a really tough time finding still water (even in the cove) on a holiday weekend.

I wouldn't be too worried about the rumored BUI checkpoint - my guess is that they'll mainly be stopping PWC's and big boat-loads of kids, which are abundant out there the weekend of the 4th. Those of us driving just need to remember to slow down our drinking a couple hours before we leave party cove, same as we should do any other weekend. And of course, have all our life jackets and throwables on board. They can't stop every boat out there and uless we give them a reason to, my bet is they'll be stopping the over-loaded pontoons and PWC's.
As far as still water in the cove, it wasn't bad last year, even with all the boats that were there - it never was an issue. If everyone ties up and some throw out their anchors, it will be fine.

On Memorial Day they stopped someone I know from C-dock (for doing something wrong) and made him blow. Lucky for him, he blew a 0.10 and they decided not to take him because of the time it would have taken to get him to town for the "official" test.
Yeah...we were in the cove last year, and it wasn't bad if you weren't anywhere near the bridge or NE end. Plus, the big line of houseboats helped block the waves. That being said, waiting for the fireworks we got pounded depite being 50 yards from the exclusion zone.
Just be careful if you get stopped...the KDWP guys love to argue, and quite frankly don't know the Kansas boating laws very well.

We will be there... I think we will probably park a little ways back this year, last year we were pretty close and had firework debris on my boat the next morning... And as for the BUI check point I might have to let Carla drive the boat for a little ways [smilie=106.gif] [smilie=106.gif] [smilie=106.gif] [smilie=106.gif] Noel, you should tie up with all the people from the site that weekend, the 36ft. cruiser would make a hell of an anchor boat, not to mention it holds more beer than mine [smilie=trink39] [smilie=trink39] [smilie=trink39] [smilie=trink39]

I remember last July 4th weekend being a heckuva a good time at Perry's party cove. There were tons of boats there and a great atmosphere. I have to think that the people who get pulled over this year are the ones who ask for it, the one-time-a-year boaters who overdo it, the 19 and 20 year olds on daddy's boat, the ones who have their fenders out and ladder down.
Personally, I will enjoy the show and be glad the cops are there.
Good call Guitar Man! I'll try to remember to pull up my ladder. Why didnt my daddy buy me a boat?
So do we want to try and organize some kind of tie up for the festivities? A ways back of course- dont want any debris on my boat. Haha
All you guys can feel free to keep your beer on my boat, I'll keep it safe.
Noel- hows the baby? Congrats!
Noel, Julie Myers bought a I think 26' Sea Ray cruiser and is back at Perry.

Dave, I'm up for a big tie up...it looked like you guys could have used a couple more anchors last weekend. It seems like in the last few years there haven't been any really large tie ups, just lots of smaller ones and singles scattered around the cove. We just need to get organized, and try to get some of the groups back together like it was 5 or 6 years ago.
Josh...Lydia's doing great! We had her out on the boat at 3 days...after all, we couldn't let her big bro show her up. She's three weeks old today, and all of about 6lbs. I guess she's just going to be a little gal.
TFLB, I saw Julie and her fiance last weekend, and it looks like they're going to be on A-dock with their new cruiser. Pretty strange how things come full circle!

I'm "on call" this weekend, but might be able to sneak away to Perry for a little while!!
What night is the fireworks?? Someone mentioned being tied in the "Cove" and getting fallout from fireworks??? What bridge are the setting them off of?? I thought they shot them off the Dam????
If I do make it, It's will probably be Sunday, and I'll probably be on the Camo Pontoon!! Heck, it might be there without me also!! I should know more later in the week!!!

They're shooting the fireworks off the swim beach by LPYM around 9:30 on Saturday. I was 50 yards from the "exclusion zone" last year and didn't get anything on the boat. My car on the other hand, looked like it had been dive bombed with red hot cinders. Fortunately, the burn marks came off. It all depends on the wind as to where stuff lands.
