So while I am here posting, I have a Rum Question.
The ladies on the boat, have been drinking a lot of Parrot Bay or Malibu lately, and I just don't think it is really all that great. It takes damn near a whole bottle before anybody is really into the party...
Both Malibu and Parrot bay are like 20 percent alcohol.
I was looking at bacardi CoCo as a replacement, is there a differnce in taste? I think it is something like 35-40 percent alcohol.
Like it would go to waste  , but I was just wondering if I would need to add more coconut to the mix or something.
I got a bottle of the Rasberry Martini mix last week, and mixed that 1 to 1 with Parrot bay and blended into a slushy, and it was a hit!
Any other Rum based suggestions to try?

Can't beat the Captain. We mix Vanilla Rum with orange juice and a splash of lemon lime soda, tastes just like a dreamcicle.

I like Cruzan rums myself. Not the cheapest, but not the most expensive either.
Check out http://www.cruzanrum.com to view their varieties and recipe suggestions...

Cruzan has very good flavored rums. We brought back about 10 bottles from St Croix when we there about 6 years ago. Come to think about it, I think we drank about 10 bottles while we there stuck in a hurricane also [smilie=alc]
The first time I saw it in the staes was a couple years later. The creamed rum is excellent also. Kinda like Bailey's, except much better.

I like Bahama Mamas. The secret ingredient is Nassau Royale. Used to not be able to get it outside the Bahamas, but we found Randall's Spirits in Fairview Heights stocks it.
The approx. recipe is:
2 oz. each OJ, Pineapple Juice, Sour mix
1 1/2 oz. each Gold Rum, Coconut Rum, Nassau Royale
Splash of Grenadine

Last year we made a lot of "Suntan Lotion", one bottle of coconut flavored rum & one can of pineapple juice. We bought what ever coconut rum was on sale or available. We used Parrot Bay(Captain Morgan), Malibu, & Bacardi Coco.
We usually never got to drunk, but sometimes we would get trashed. We could not figure out why. Then we realized that the Bacardi Coco has about 50% more alcohol content and that when we got trashed.
We can not tell a difference in taste, so we buy Bacardi Coco as it is usually cheaper.
Don't change a thing to your mix.
Just my opinion.

I like the captain or vanilla rum myself. You can always skip the flavored rum and buy flavored syrup too, then you can keep the strong stuff and add the syrup to it. :) [smilie=1062.gif]
