Is anyone planning to go to the Jobbie Nooner on 6/24? I've never been to it, but it's our weekend without the kids and it looks like it's a good time!

What is JobbieNooner?
JobbieNooner is a wild island party that is held on Lake St. Clair (near Detroit, Michigan) twice every summer. It was originated by a small group of automotive designers ("Jobbies") including Lee O'Dell who wanted to take co-worker, Lee Wagner, out for his birthday. They decided to blow out of work at lunchtime one Friday (i.e. "Pull a Nooner"), get together on their boats and have a good time. It started 2 decades ago with four boats and seventeen friends. It has grown into the biggest party of the summer with an estimated 1,000+ boats and nearly 5,000 people attending in recent years. It has been nicknamed the "Mardi Gras of the Midwest."

This is the latest news on the event. It is a crazy time for sure!!! maybe by moving it off the island and into the bay there'll be less losers making complete arses of themselves. It's hilarious watching little aluminum fishing boats filled to the brim with underaged, wasted kids. Cops should focus on them before they try and shut the whole thing down!
I'll be there for sure this year - hell I always liked the raft up better than the island anyways.

Thanks, FantastixVoyage. That's good information to have. We'll keep it in mind in our decision to either do the JobbieNooner or LOTO!

If anyone plans on making the trip up for Jobbienooner let me know and I'll be sure to make sure you have a good time. Everyone from this site was great when we came down to LOTO. I'd like to return the favor if anyone needs it up here. [smilie=071.gif]
