Miss Croix Poker Run set for August 20th, 2005!!

[color=darkblue]This year promises to be more fun than before with some changes in routes, a fabulous band, and partying until....

Party and pre-registration will begin on Friday for those interested in starting early. Actual event begins Saturday morning. Looks like we might be starting and ending at TI this year - and yes, you can sleep in your boat on the trailer. If you think you need a room - now is the time to book, as the hotel WILL fill. Call TI at 800-222-7077.

Charity is St. Paul Children's Hospital. We hope to raise over $10,000 this year. Last year we raised over $8,000 for Down Syndrome. Thanks everyone who participated - we could not do it without you!!

Sounds like a great time for sure!! Came last year and had a blast. Can't say enough about the Sugar Divas - sure hope you have a band of that caliber again! I danced the night away. They were awesome - who was the big muscle guy on stage with them in the wife beater shirt? I've been thinking of him ever since. Does anyone know if he's married?

I think starting at TI and finishing at TI is a good change. That way, when I get really drunk and can't find my boat, I can sleep in the truck!

Glad you had fun last year big mama! This year should prove to be even better. We ARE starting and ending at Treasure Island. That should make it easier for everyone logistically.

We are working on securing a large party boat for one of our stops. Boat includes a bar and possibly live music. This will probably be somewhere for our tie off so everyone can spend some time just hanging out in the sun. And, of course, we will have the last stop in Prescott so we can have the final hurrah to TI in power boat fashion.

We will be changing our charity. Children's has too many hoops to jump through. I will keep you all posted on details.

Our theme this year is Mardi Gras - beads optional...

Can't wait to see everyone! Pray for warm weather.

I have always gone on this run and it has always been awesome. It is too bad the two runs are on the same date but my boat is already at TI and I would not miss it. Am I alone on this? The jungle has some loyal people too and it is also from what I hear a great time. Can you all give me an idea of who is doing what? I can't get there in any realistic time frame the bar closes at 2am and we clean til 3am so Sat is out. I do know that there will be a traditional Superslushy Sunday going on the next day for those who aren't totally hung over. Maybe at Kinni?? Have blender will travel...!!!

If anyone is interested, our band, "Unified Soul" will be playing at Clyde’s in Bayport this Friday night. They are going to be awesome!

The tie off this year will be with Mangrove Charlie's, the new floating bar and restaurant. They will have music, food and drinks for us. Should be a great time!!

I know that TI has a launch. I have never used it, but have been told it can handle our boats. You may want to call and talk to Summer at the marina. The number is (800) 222-7077. Ask for the marina and then be sure to talk with Summer. Are you coming up 94 to the cities? You could always put in at the Hastings marina too and just pay to leave your truck. It would take you about 30 minutes to get to TI from there and you could avoid the Red Wing lock. If TI won't work, let me know and I can give you directions to Hastings. (Be sure to bring a spot light if it will be dark. The river can be a bit tricky to navigate in the dark).

Try Summer. Last year I watched a 29 pull out and they had no problems. That would be the best bet. If she thinks that it will be a problem for you, let me know, and I will help you come up with an alternative.

I was going to put in at Windmill early Saturday morning and boat down to TI

Windmill is in Afton, MN
Take 94 west, first exit crossing over the river, I believe it is cr95
take a left and head south.
aprox 10 miles, dont take my word for it :) you will come into afton.
Just as you get past cr18 ( I think) you will be taking a left.
The sign says Windmill. If you go past the Afton House INN, you have gone too far.

Afton is an option, but you are going to be four no wakes (5 if you count the new dredging one) and about 30 miles away from TI. If you are planning on dropping in on Saturday - Hastings is closer - but I would still check with Summer and their launch. That way you are right there at the party.

You will most likely need someone to drive the trailer back to TI, because there is very little parking room there.
It is just downstream from TI in the no wake zone

I have used it along with 34' ers also.
You will most likely need someone to drive the trailer back to TI, because there is very little parking room there.
It is just downstream from TI in the no wake zone

I've put my 19footer in there and was fine but its a gravel landing on the end of a dead end gravel road. The fishmen look at me funny in my little boat. They must really look at you guys with the big boats.

It you are going to get that close to TI you might as well use the new landing right at TI. I know other that have used the TI landing and said it worked great.

If you are coming late at night. I'd go right to TI.

How far down or what mile marker is Dicks halfway in at? We are going to be staying around the 11, and I think PC is around the 19 if I remember correctly. We will be in Friday afternoon

BD's is @ the 47mm. Yes, PC is off of the 19mm.

Darrel, best thing is to make visual land markers.
Yes it very difficult at night. That is why I had someone riding iwth me that new the area.
Most precise thing to do is have a GPS with [smilie=071.gif]

OBTW, practice on backing into slips, all slips there are too small for your boat to pull in bow first and have enough room to step out the cockpit :(
I learned the hard way and was given much crap for not knowing how to back in :roll:

This may sound like a crazy question, but how do figure out the mile markers on the water. There does not seem to be any way of judging how far you are and what cove to turn into unless you have been there before several time/ from there, or know your way around. I would like to make the run there for Friday night when we put in the water, and then maybe come back and end the night somewhere closer to where we will be staying.

Ocassionaly you will find markers on the shore. I believe these are usually installed by homeowners, but they are not consistant. Landmarks (bars, restaurants, resorts, marinas, coves, arms, and bridges) is how I learned the lake milemarkers. :mrgreen:
