Mind if I Smoke? versions 3.1 and 3.5....

The 4th is on a Monday this year. My guess is that a lot of people will be staying through Monday, treating this year like Memorial weekend or Labor day.
So, the question is, since it will be a three day weekend this year, should the officially unofficial Big Dick's run (Mind if I Smoke ver. 3.1 :mrgreen: )be held the Friday before the 4th weekend, or perhaps later?
One of the main reasons for holding it on Friday was the availability of the bar for our large crowd. I don't know what would happen if we went on the other days.

Mind if I Smoke? ver. 3.5 (Weekend of shootout- August 27th this year I think) would still be held on Friday?
Anyone have any suggestions?

Perhaps since we are itching to go boating, and spring fever is hitting HARD (me, at least), this would be a good time to plan this kind of thing.

My guess would be that the lake (Big Dick's) would be less crowded on Friday than anyday during the week AFTER the 4th. It seems like ALOT of people stay at the lake that whole week following the 4th. That being said, my vote would be for Friday, July 1st.

It sounds like we all are thinking along the same lines. Part of the attraction for Friday was less traffic. I'm sure it will be that way, perhaps even more so, this year!

I just hope we can make 3.1. I KNOW we will be there for 3.5 (shootout). I'm running BOTH days this year and will be ready instead of just firing up the boat and blasting down the course. :roll: :mrgreen:

It's not only a good idea, but it shold be MANDATORY this year!!
I would think we have been there enough by now that they would realize we are not just a bunch of flakes (OK, so we really are, but I'm not telling) that don't show up!

I would think they would have no problem donating a few items.

As far as time, last year this was Troutly's schedule for the shootout run, and it seemed to work out well:

So, with this in mind......lets meet out front of BWJ's cove (17mm) for an 11 AM departure up to Big Dicks. This will make it about a 30 mile run up the lake so at about a 40-45 MPH cruise we'll be there well before noon.

I think some people that were already further up the lake met up with the group at the hurricane deck bridge a little after 11:00 and that worked well too.

I agree it would be cool if they donate something. And there was talk last year about a lunch buffet, that would work out better then everyone ordering from the menu.

Last years schedule was great I vote to keep it the same.

Friday works for me, and yes Big Dick needs to pony up and have lots of wait staff waiting for us, beer iced down, we are talking top drawer stuff for a top door crew.
