Sounds like a big group of Baja'ers are going to make it down to the Lake this weekend. Plans are not firm as to the place, but the date looks locked in and people are making vacation plans:

From Curt:

Ok. Here is the plan. Make sure you do not over do it on Friday night. We will get an early start. You can start to assemble at Big Thunder Marine on Sat 8:30am to 10:00am. When you come in keep to the left of the gas docks. If you need fuel go ahead and stop at the docks. Otherwise continue past the gas pumps & store and dock your boats in the slips directly behind the gas docks. If these fill up I will direct you to other overflow parking at the other docks. During this time you may want to make sure boats are gassed, shop the gift shop, pack your coolers, visit or whatever.

We will leave at 10:03am. That means you need to have your boat untied and ready to go at that time. My shifters will go into gear at 10:03am sharp. We will idle out of the cove for quite a ways. Nearly to the main channel. Several reasons. It will give you a chance to look at all the boats so you know who's in the crowd. Second, typically Saturday mornings is pretty busy with little kids tubing in the area with family. This will not only provide best safety for everyone but also respectful of the property owners in the cove who are good neighbors to Big Thunder.

I have a couple stops planned but they are short to get the most out of our day. Not really time to order a lunch and still be on schedule, so I recommend you bring food on your boat. Of course, you are always welcome to eat at any stop and catch up later. Your call.

When we hit the main channel will head up stream forty (40) miles to an establishment known as Big Dicks Halfway Inn. The planned arrival time is 10:59am. I plan to run at a pace of about 35-40 mph for the first 16 miles until the 24 mile marker. This would then be a good spot for those feeling froggy to open them up a bit. You have a four (4) mile straight away here to the 28, and then the lake makes a hard right you can still air them out up to the 31 mm if you want. However, for those of you not familiar with the lake or have someone with you who is, I recommend you slow there and wait on the pack. The lake goes four (4) different directions here and you could find yourself down the wrong path so to speak. We will continue on up the lake to about the 42mm. Another good spot to run wide open for a while. Depending on traffic in the area we could stop at a 40 foot cliff for those who dare. If we don't stop on the way up we might on the way back. Just depends on how many people are there and the wait involved to jump. At the 47 we will enter a No Wake cove. Now while on this subject, in Missouri Idle Speed/No Wake means NO WAKE not SLOW WAKE. Idle means idle not 1000 or even 850rpms, it means idle. If you get a ticket, you cannot say you have been warned. Once we arrive you will have time for a couple drinks. Big Dicks claimed to fame is Minnow Shots. Yes, live minnows in any shot of your choice. Even soda for the kids if they want. My shifters will go into forward gear at 11:59am, no exceptions. So you may want to start untying your boats at 11:54am. We will head down the lake back to the 21 mm, with exception of a quick stop at 42 cliffs this will be a non-stop run.

You should be somewhat familiar with lake on the way back so if you want to turn them loose, go ahead. Just remember the fork in the road at the 31mm. Plan to arrive at a large bar called Shooters 21 at 12:37pm. They have a couple bars including a Tiki Bar. They also have a pool if you need to cool off. We will have time for a drink or two before our departure at 1:36pm. Then it is off to the 19 mm where we will leave the main channel and enter the Grand Glaize arm. We will go thru a NO WAKE zone that will take exactly 28 minutes. Might as well put up the bolster, set down and have a cold drink. Once we clear that you will have about 3 miles to get to Party cove. There are buoys on the last bend that say keep right. Please try to abide by these. Also remember this when you leave. This will be some of the roughest water you have seen all day, but rest assured the roughest will come later. Once we enter the cove it is all NO WAKE. Here we all will eventually raft off, however before that if some of you want to go through the gauntlet, follow me. Others will find a spot and get the line started. Now if you go do the gauntlet, you boat will get wet. Close the cuddy door. There is a trade off though. Lots of neat stuff to see. ? We will the then join the line for a day of PARTY COVE!

Now from here, when you leave, is up to you. Some may want to go back and get showers before the BBQ; others may come straight to dinner from the cove. My crew will leave at 5:05pm. If you leave when I do, THIS, will be the biggest water you will see all day. Be careful and make sure the old liquid courage is not kicking in.

I would ask that no one show up at Big Thunder until at least 7:00pm. They are open for business unit 8:00pm and I don't want to interfere with that. If are one of the early ones that get there at 7pm please be respectful of this.

Some my want to drive by car if your not familiar with boating on the lake at night.

Dinner will be served starting at 7:45pm, we will eat and visit until ????

Sometime during the day I will collect $$$ and distribute the shirts. Looks like they are going to come in around $12.50 each. Please be prepared. Dont diss us on this. I ordered the number I did based on your responses.
Are we ready???

It was a great time. We didnt get to run w/ the group because we blew out our hub in morning on way to Big Thunder. We got fixed up & met them over & Big Dicks & then saw most at party cove. The BBQ was excellent & everyone was friendly. Cant wait till next year.
