Here are the details on the 2nd Annual MidwestBoatParty Party!!!

When: Saturday, January 29, 2005, 7:00pm - close

Where:
Fred P. Otts Bar & Grill
6700 College Blvd
Overland Park, KS 66211
(913) 451-2999
http://www.dineoutinkc.com/fredpotts/fpott_index.html
map (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?country=US&countryid=US&addtohistory=&searchtab=address&searchtype=address&address=6700+College+Blvd&city=&state=&zipcode=66211&search=++Search++)
Thank you to forum member Weekender who has generously offered to DJ the party for us. [smilie=appl]
P. Otts has a special on import bottles for $2 and I am working on getting us another drink special. [smilie=alc]
They have a standard menu of bar food too (see link).

MWBP Hotel:
Drury Inn and Suites
10963 Metcalf Avenue
Overland Park, KS 66210
(913) 345-1500
http://www.druryhotels.com/properties/overlandpark.cfm
map (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?country=US&countryid=US&addtohistory=&searchtab=address&searchtype=address&address=10963+Metcalf+Ave&city=&state=&zipcode=66210&search=++Search++)

We have a block of 20 rooms for 1/29/05.
Our group rate is $64 for a single king room and $69 for two doubles, plus tax. It does not matter how many are staying in the room, the rate is the same.
In order to get this rate you need to call (800) 325-0720 and tell them you are with MidwestBoatParty.com.
The hotel is just a short walk away (literally across the parking lot) from Fred P. Otts where we will be having the party. So if you stay here, you will not have to drive home!!
The rate will include a cocktail hour from 5:30-7:00pm with 3 drink coupons per hotel guest [smilie=1062.gif] as well as a hot breakfast in the morning.
http://www.druryhotels.com/about_spserv.cfm
I did a quick tour of the hotel and it is nice with covered parking, an indoor pool and hot tub.

It just so happens that the Overland Park Boat Show will also be in town!
Overland Park Convention Center
6000 College Blvd
Overland Park, KS 66211
http://www.opconventioncenter.com/calendar/detail.asp?eventid=100555

The boat show sponsored by the Lake of the Ozarks Marine Dealers Association.
It is located approx 1/2 mile from the MWBP party and hotel.

Thanks all you KC folk for all the hard work organizing this.

One of the couples that just registered and plan on coming asked;
Are they gonna do the name tag thing???

Dr. Jeff
12-05-2004, 07:03 PM
We did it at the first MWBP Party, and we'll try to do it at this one too. With this many people, most of whom have never met, its kind of nice to put names with faces. Its going to depend on the facilities and how much control of the bar we have to set up tables etc.

Tempest38
12-05-2004, 07:14 PM
Maybe we can find some that you just use a Crayon and slide 'em in. I'll do some looking around while I'm out and about. But ofcourse we have to find a member who can run a Crayon in a legible fashion.
I haven't forgot about hospital deal, just haven't caught up with anybody yet. Must be gone for the weekend....

Sounds fun! What goes on at these parties????

First off, [smilie=welcome]

Well picture the quarry with more fun people [smilie=blah.gif] [smilie=1062.gif] [smilie=trink39] , more alcohol [smilie=eck02.gif] [smilie=alc] [smilie=food05.gif] , and a generally better attitude [smilie=thewave.gif] [smilie=dancing.gif] , and no boys in brown (water patrol) to spoil the fun [smilie=flip8] [smilie=eck05.gif]

It is a good excuse to get togther and go to the bost show and then have fun as a group of folks. [smilie=dancing.gif] [smilie=trink39] [smilie=1062.gif] [smilie=fest42.gif] [smilie=alc] [smilie=food05.gif]

For those staying elsewhere be VERY careful about drinking/driving. The cops in OP will follow you after midnight until you make the slightest weave WITHIN your lane or traffic mistake and then it’s all over.

Ran into a snag last night
Lost the sitter for the dog for this party weekend
I called the Hotel and I am allowed to have the pouch in the room, but only when i am in it. Cannot leave him alone in the room, even in his kennel.

Anyone local with a couple kids that want to dog sit while I am at teh Show and party?

let me know.
I am also looking into local sitters establishments, so if anynone in the local Minneapolis area has used one to recommend or NOT recomend please let me know.

thanks

Whatever you do - do not stay home because of this. I live in Platte City and you are more than welcome to leave the dog at our house. I will work on asking my friend's daughter who loves dogs to sit for your dog while we all are gone. If that falls through I will ask my sister to come and check on him while we are gone. He would just have to stay at our house in a kennel if my sister does it cause her dog is a pain in the ass and she would not have a minute's peace if another dog was in her house. We do it all the time with our friend's dog. If my friend's daughter does it she would probably want to take him to her house cause she loves dogs and would want it with her probably. We are just off of I-29. We have a dog and two cats so you would need to bring the kennel. But would be glad to help out. I also know of a good place for boarding too right off of I-29.

Thank you very much for looking into this.
Please let me know because as of this afternoon I only have a couple options. And both are boarding places. Never done that and have heard both good and bad about them :(
One was really expensive, $49 a day and the other was very reasonable at $20 a day

I do NOT plan on missing the party at all!
Will do this one way or the other. Just seems like a good reason to get him accustomed to a boarding place anyway. That way he can get familiar for the summer :)

We hopefully will have a place to set up a table at the bar for people to fill out a nametag.

Mandy and I will be there. But there will be no need for a name tag for me. I've a real easy guy to pick out of a crown. If anyone wants to find me, just look for the best loking, and I repeat best looking guy in the place. Walk right up to him and look him straight in the eyes and ask him if he's seen a big guy with a shaved hear, a long goatee, wearing a bright orange Revolution Marine shirt.... that will be me. [smilie=071.gif] [smilie=071.gif]

No that belongs to a guy by the name of Steve Miller who lives in Independence. He has a big party called Beer, Blues and BBQ every year on his land. It starts Friday night and runs through Saturday night. He has excellent bbq, lots of beer and our friends band plays there every year. Plus he has an excellent fire works display. He saves up all year for this party and does not charge anything for you to attend. It is all based on donations and passing the hat for the band. He lets everyone camp out so there is no drinking and driving. It is a blast.
