Friday Aug 13th - Sun 15th (for those that ARE going and can HANDLE 3 days of fun [smilie=crazy])

As of Wed 7-28, gates are back open at 3k and down to 14'. no debris to speak of. ramps are open but parking is not as easy as normal levels.
Now if they would stop dumping water from Milford at 7-8k which is now down from 16' to only 7' over.......

Perry will be fine regardless, it has almost been nice as it has cut down on the infrequent, less compentent boaters, those left generally know what they are doing.

You can get to Party Cove with no problems, we went last weekend. As of this A.M. the lake was at 12 1/2 feet over pool and letting 7000 cfs at the spill way.
John i did see a friend launch thier 33 in the federal boat ramp last sat. but there is no dock in the water.

Thanks Matt!! I had just heard the rumor a couple weeks ago that since they were working on the bridge they weren't going to let boats go under it.

What about the State Park ramp? How does it look? I guess if they're letting out 7000cfs a day it should be good by the 13th, huh?

Perry Lake Party Cove is open as Sloop said. He's out there every weekend as so am I and a lot of local Perry boaters from LPYM and Rock Creek Marina!! No need to worry about the water level at this time!! It's draining as a few boats in the Slough Creek area found out just overnight!! [smilie=hah] When they woke up, the boats were sitting on the ground and had to be pulled back into the water!! Most, I say most docks are back in at the ramps. All of the out of town & out of state boaters, we are all looking forward to seeing ya'll for the MWBP Fall Party at the lake!!! [smilie=042.gif]

LakeRat, why aren't you guys going to make it up this way??

were out this year. We were on the fence, and had to wait to see what happened.

Our son qualified for State 2 weeks ago (BMX). (same weekend as the party) If he does good that weekend, he qualifies for Nationals.

Everyone have fun, and be safe. We plan on making it back down to the loto for the harbor hop. Hope to see everyone then.

With everything that's going on nowadays and so many people cancelling this trip... I wonder if we shouldn't make the Perry Party a once a year thing.. We do have more people traveling to Perry more often during the summer now. And maybe do a gtg at a couple other lakes (ex. Milford, Melvern) during the summer, too.

Any suggestions?

I have been watching the thread, it started on a sour note then blown out and bantered to two pages.
For those on Facebook, I see this no different than any mass social invite, (since this fourm is open to the public its even larger).
There will always be more "not comming" and "maybe" than ATTENDING.
The fact they felt the need to post their absence, I inturpet as they really wanted to go but could not and thought they would be missed.

Yes, there are some of the old timers that were fun to see but people move in other directions and there are others that I guarentee will take there place to make new friends to have fun times and crazy stories.
I know I have several [smilie=crazy]

Although I was not part of the founding of the Perry GTG, I have attended since fall 2006.
I dont know the original reasoning for a spring and fall but here are some reasons the gtg are successful.....

There is a large membership base in the KC metro and those comming from points West including Omaha, Wichita etc that Perry is less than half the distance and drive time over better roads.

The lake is large enough to support fast performance boats but not so large a fuel budget needs to be planned like LOTO.
Two Large marinas with active Bars are more than any other lake to the west or north for a 300 mile radius
Multiple on and off water lodging choices from 3 bedroom cabins, rooms on the water, full service and primative camping.

Perry offers intimate chances to meet other boaters on the site. LOTO is so large, people are spread out.
Those with less boats than 25' can feel comfortable on Perry anywhere, anytime. We all started small and some can only dream big so it is fun to see additional big boats visit.
Big boats, even if you are not the MOST spectacular at LOTO, come on over, you can be an all star for the weekend for sure.

Perry GTG Friday's have more boats in the cove than "THE Party Cove" on Friday of Memorial weekend [smilie=trink39]
I know there are many more people, both on the site and non active that are looking forward to a great upcomming weekend so for those wafflers out there, I DARE you to come and see how many boats show up

BTW, I want to see a return of the "Power Lap" before coming into the cove.
If you got something, push the sticks, make some noise! Hang a left and make a clockwise loop, approaching the cove from the East.
(dont go too far out, there is standing timber, and set down to not wake the coved boats please [smilie=042.gif])

As of Friday morning the 6th.

Perry, currently 9' over.
All roads are open, LPYM parking lot open.
Most higher water courtsey ramps are back in.
Almost no debris but keep eye open. Watch out for those rock breakwaters just below the surface at both marinas and Slough creek.
Gates have been closed for couple days due to Iowa rains filling MO river but should be opening again today. (Tuttle went back to releasing 7k and Milford 2k, Thurs)
We were dropping 9"+ a day before so I expect State Park ramp to be open by late weekend/early week. (they close at 6')

There were more boats out last weekend than I have seen in 6 weeks.
More in the cove and TONS of recreational in the main channel.

Nicely spoken, Sloop!! And so true!! We have been going since the fall party of '06 also! And like you, we've seen many new arrivals at each gtg and a few not make it. I'd love to see the Naked Nebraska crew come back!!!!

If you're out this weekend, please check on the State Park ramp for us and let us know how it looks?

And just so you know, I wasn't trying to stop the Perry gtg's, they're always fun! But it is nice to go to different lakes and check out the water and scenery!! [smilie=eck02.gif]

We went to Melvern a couple weeks ago and got pulled over by some locals. We talked to them for a good hour, and they'd LOVE to see some of us down there and hook up with them in a cove. Very nice people, all the way around. [smilie=042.gif]

Although I am not a big poster I do check the site quite often and follow the events at Perry with great interest and also enjoy all the info I get on the LOTO having several friends with houses there. Because my ride does not handle the LOTO on most of the weekends Perry is a very good lake for us being only a 45 min. drive. If you can't run with the big dogs stay on the porch, well PERRY IS MY PORCH and have not missed a weekend a the lake in 2 months. Most of my boating friends look foward to the MWBP's at the lake as much as the big weekend's at the lake and the one weekend to leave the kids at home, party, see some very nice boats we don't usually get to see and bring a peice of LOTO here. But there is nothing like going to the real thing just can't go often.
I have boated Perry for over 25 years and am still meeting new people nearly every weekend and most are very nice people.

That said I am looking foward to a great time next weekend with about 10 boats comming from our area that I know of.[smilie=042.gif][smilie=trink39]

You can easily get into either marina ramp.
Some seem to not like the long ramp at LPYM so you might prefer Rock Creek if you dont mind the drive.
State Park ramp is still closed to my knowledge.
Gates are back open to 2k this AM, expecting more later today or tomorrow.

Hey so ya got the four winns sold?! congrats bud! you'll have to flag me down i'm sure i won't recongnize you in the new ride!

I'll find ya brother. Look for 36' Maxum with two brown and white sea-doos anchored behind her. Named "Bill Me". We will be out early but might not pull in until TTown and Susie get there. Or might just be the local jackass that breaks the line. That always gets Matt excited.

We are planning on being there with two other couples and the new armada.....look forward to seeing everybody. As far as Sheldon and Julie; apparently we need to have a chat.....I'm pretty sure he was told that these parties were mandatory with employment....

Damn it, I was hoping no one would notice if I was not there. We had to do some rescheduling with Julie's work so that we can go to the Shoot Out at LOTO. I would love to be there.

Had a good tome at Perry this weekend.

State park ramp is closed but people were still putting in, I wouldn't!
Rock Creek has the ramps back to 2 wide as of Sunday.
Looks like the water is still going down so by next weekend we should be looking pretty good.
We stayed at the state park and there is a lot of talk about the party next weekend so I guess we can't let them down! [smilie=trink39]

Good News - Corps plan to open Perry up to 6k later today!

Perry is currently 8' over but increased flow should start dropping it about 9-10" / day.
Most ramps and parking are back into usable shape with the noted exception of State Park which is significantly impacted at levels above 6'.
State Park ramp should just be getting back into the game by our Fri/Sat arrival with the projected release!

As mentioned, Ferguson Rd south of Slough Creek ramp is closed so an alternate route / ramp will need to be used if you usually head north out of Perry and launch at Slough Creek.
LPYM ramp should be usable from its normal entry point, otherwise drop in from the top. Ignore the "ramp closed" spray painted sign. (good alternative to Slough Creek)

Both marinas have some over night slips available if you dont want to trailer in and out.
Perry Marina - $25-35/nt w power/water
limited covered under 28'
several end tie and finger tie locations for boats up to 40'+
Rock Creek - approx same price, unknown quantitiy availability.

Check out the Dam Store on Ferguson Rd & 39th for breakfast.

Bar plans -
Dukes at Perry Marina (south near dam) - has DJ's planned both nights with a potential band on the deck Saturday night.
short courtsey dock in front of the bar, otherwise, tie up anywhere there is not a slip reserved sign on Gas dock.

Mulligans at Rock Creek (formerly Boondocks, north marina on Rock Creek arm) - nothing known for Friday, Steve Kile Band for Saturday. Steve is a cove regular and played up there for several years. Show runs from 9:30-12:30 but has been known to play longer with good tips ;)
courtsey docks are small but tie up in front of bar or end tie on docks.

Cove - lets have good anchor sets and get a front and back line going early like last weekend!

TUNE IN to the fun. We are still working out the kinks in only the second week of broadcasting so everyone can jam to the tunes.
Be patient, covering broad genre and generations of music and there is only 60 min in an hour. Every song may not be your favorite but wait, it will change soon. Typically more broad early with dance focus increasing later in the day.
Transmitter is much better than most but still has limitations. It transmits btwn 50-16k Hz so if you have a big system, subs will not sound as strong.
Signal is clean but not compressed like commercial radio and dependent on your radio reception.
Medium volumes should sound good and extend battery life.
It was pretty impressive last week hearing the same music reinforced out of both sides of the line [smilie=trink39]
Lets see those "Power Laps" after you come under the bridge http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t12/triguy29/emoticons/littleboat.gif

Get there early, stay late, HAVE FUN http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t12/triguy29/emoticons/chilidance.gif [smilie=headbang] [smilie=dancing.gif]! [smilie=1062.gif][smilie=5boobs.gif]

Ok just got back from the lake tonight with the boy. Stopped by the State Park Ramp to check for you guys and the dock is still quite a ways out. If they started 6K today Saturday might be an option but always good to have back up plans. Rock Creek Marina is almost back to full parking space and full ramp. Late and early for fri or sat is no problem at all. 11am-4pm saturday is a hell of a mess, good reason to start drinking early and stay late.

This weekend is Rock Creeks customer appreciation weekend. So Saturday night is fireworks and band, I believe they have band scheduled for friday night as well. There are not a ton of courtesy docks but our slip is on H Dock which is the first long line you see when you come under the bridge. With a couple fenders out you can park quite a few along that dock especially when your going to the bar and know somebody on the dock. I'm in H-1 boat named "Bill Me" if anybody gets lippy just tell them your headed out with us. Matt and Susie parked there to eat Saturday and I think it works just fine. I'll be out there working with boat tommorrow and will try to give a state ramp update tommorrow.

See you all soon.

As for what Sloop was talking about when he was "broadcasting" or "transmitting" a signal from his AWESOME stereo system, is that he will put out this signal and everyone close enough might be able to pick it up on a certain station?!?! Now last weekend for Dawn's 40th Birthday Party, Sloop had all boats tune into 101.9 FM!! Now I am not sure if that is the signal he prefers or the only one he can broadcast on?? I was about 8-9 boats down the line from Sloop and I was able to play it out thru my stereo!! The boats tied in the line across from us were also able to pick up his signal as well!! I would say we had at least 30 boats on the same frequency playing the exact same thing coming from Sloop's boat!!!
Stay tuned to future postings from Sloop to see if he mentions what frequency to dial your FM radio into?!?! If not, just pay attention to the rest of the boats that are playing the exact same song and ask them what station they are listening too?!?!
Hope this helps a little bit!! Thanks again to SLOOP!! [smilie=appl]

I also went out and checked on the State Park and Rock Creek. State Park is going to have to come down a TON if we're going to try to put in there. The water is still about 40 feet up into the parking lot. You can just now see the top of the posts on the courtesy dock. You can also get on the Corps of Engineers website for more info.

Marc, Have you talked with the other H-dock slipholders for a definite okay on people tying up to the docks? John's family (the Martinek's) have the last 4 or 5 slips (including Roxy's enclosed 'party dock') and they're usually really good with letting people tie up for a bit, but they really appreciate advanced notice. John is going to call Craig today and see if they are going to be out this weekend.

The only reason I'm asking is because two years ago, during a MWBP g-t-g, some things were stolen from the dock. Not saying it was a MWBP member/guest, but I had some towels disappear and I believe some other things went missing, too. So they're a little leary of complete strangers wandering around the docks.

Looking foward to seeing everyone this weekend!! [smilie=trink39] Although will certainly miss you, Ritchie, Sheldon, Julie, Jeff, Crystal, Matt and Jaymee (and others who can't attend). :(

I searched this thread but couldn't see where any meeting spot for Friday night had been determined. Anyone have a plan, or are people just going to meet up at the campground, or Duke's or Boondock's?? Would it make sense to pick one spot for Friday night and one for Saturday night, or is everyone just planning to wing it?

Oh, and I second what Travis said about Sloop's FM transmitter........it was AWESOME last weekend!! Such a great idea.......someone should've done this years ago!! CORRECTION:

I want to apologize if I scared the crap out of John and Kristy. When it comes to Marina parking and H dock you DO NOT want to go to the east side (the side closest to the road) Those are private slips and great folks who have spots reserved and a large party barge built in. You also do not want to tie to the end of the west side where you will see another private dock. The areas available is a large floating dock right in the middle that can easily handle two (normal size) boats--Sorry John.....and then the area just to the west of that (away from the road) we can park a couple behind mine as well. It's not a ton of parking but in the evening there is other curtousy parking closer to the bar as well. I'm sure we will be back in slip before the big partying starts. Boat named Bill Me right by the walkway, just tell and I can give better directions.

Saturday, moderate breeze out of North so we will probably be in usually location but have little less protection and if anchors are not set good, will end up blowing the line into shore which causes all kinds of organizational problems. [smilie=011.gif]
I know those on this site are experienced but there are a TON of locals that look forward to this gathering too [smilie=042.gif]

"Thanks" to all the transmitter fans. we can digitally tune to any frequency, try not to interfere w/ commercial broadcast.

Listen early, party late, please dont run engines if you are killing batteries. Noise, exhaust, fuel burn are not worth it. Make sure to recharge down batteries, a trip across the lake will not fully charge depleted batteries.
DO NOT try to charge more than one low batt at a time, you will burn up the alternator (experience talking)

Looking forward to seeing everyone! The count down is over, let the party begin [smilie=dancing.gif]

The anchor deal has been a problem, just because the guy you pull up next too has a anchor out does Not mean you don't have to put yours out.
And dropping your anchor off the front of your boat after you have tied up does nothing, pull past drop your anchor and then back up to the line. Or put your anchor on a float and swim it out 50-75 ft and drop it.
I don't want to see anyones boat damaged, we spend to much on our toys so lets all help out in keeping them nice.

See you in 10hrs.

Amen, I'm tired of seeing a line turn into a circle, turn into a broken cleat, turn into a royal Cluster ****.

We'll probably end up at Duke's both tonight and tomorrow night. Chris has a DJ playing dance music each night, and a band outside tomorrow night. And specials on UV vodka and bottled beer (not sure which ones). Will try to stop by Boondock's / Mulligans on the Lake tomorrow night but not sure. :wine:

Just talked to the Lake Perry office and all ramps are open with the only exception is Old Town at the north end of the lake. Some may not have the docks in yet but ramps are open.[smilie=trink39] So hope everyone has a great time and will see you all out there!![smilie=trink39]

We didnt pull off the water til' 10:30 last night. [smilie=crazy]
Rode out the winds in the cove!
Huge rain drops hitting the water and splashing up, steam comming off the lake with the cool air temps and sun burning though the dark clouds made for an AMAZING experience

Water was 15deg warmer than air as we sat on noodles, then a rainbow appeared with an end in the water on the East side of the cove.

Yeah, I would say you guys were crazy for staying out in the cove during that storm [smilie=crazy] - but then, that wouldn't be very nice of me. [smilie=crazy]

I'm sure it was a cool experience, but not for the faint of heart. There was A LOT of lightening and wind w/ that storm. We were glad you guys made it back in safely.

So exhausted from the weekend, feel like we were at LOTO, not Perry. :) What a great time! Hope someone got some pictures........I only took 6 or 7. Too much booze on a 100-degree day too early - I think many peeps forgot to [smilie=smilie_tisc: and now wishing we had taken more.

you know the deal, you weren't here you missed out!

we don't even carry a camera any more, on B-dock the saying is "no camera no proof", and "if you don't remember doing it, it didn't happen!"

i was surprised, the Milford crew and our crew brought the [smilie=eck02.gif], but not many others.

we drank at kristi's parents house at lake ridge friday with the weather rolling in. we had almost 30 peeps packed in the garage while it was raining with the grille going out back. john P's crew brought the best baked new potato's i've ever had, i want that recipe! we got good and "over served" and started the body painting about 2am sat....
got up and cooked a huge breakfast for everybody (had people sleeping every where!), and then on the lake in the cove saturday, back to rock creek for dinner then we went back out to crank up the tunes boozes cruising til we got rained on about 1:30am.
sunday another big breakfast, loaned my props out for some testing, than back to the cove til about 5.

with 4-5 hours a sleep each night and alcohol consumption... i'm dragging ass today...

but it was fun!

Sunday the lake was just about back to normal. We didn't see anything floating all weekend - tons of crap on shore, though!! The smell of the flood waters around the state park was rancid, but once we got the boat in the water, all was good!

Thanks for the reports. We probably won't get out but 1 or 2 more times and it'd be nice if it could be at Perry rather than Melvern.
