BONNER SPRINGS, Kan. -- A Bonner Springs barbecue restaurant will have its chance to challenge Adam Richman, host of the Travel Channel show "Man Vs. Food," on Aug. 11.

Richman took on the "Ultimate Destroyer Challenge" at Papa Bob's Bar-B-Que, 11610 Kaw Drive, May 12, but those there that day have been unable to say how he fared, but the public will get its chance to see what happened when the episode airs.

Papa Bob's officials said Richman and his crew spent two days filming at the restaurant.

On the Papa Bob's website, the Ultimate Destroyer is described as having a half-pound each of pulled pork, sliced pork, sliced smoked ham, smoked turkey breast, smoked brisket, smoked BBQ sausage, three half-pound hamburgers, four slides of bread, a 12-inch hoagie bun, a half pound of french fries, four dill pickle spears and four jalapenos.

The Ultimate Destroyer must be finished in 45 minutes or customers are forced to pay $48 for the behemoth sandwich. Customers are allowed no bathroom breaks and can't dip any of their food.

The restaurant said they will hold a public viewing party on Aug. 11.

I grew up and work in Bonner Springs... I love that show but during filming it was by invitation only... I haven't eaten there in a while so I'll have to go check it out again.
