Has anyone tried creating HDR (High Dynamic Range) photographs? When done right they are a fascinating image.
I have tried my hand at this with fair results...

I am using a trial copy of Photomatix.

The standard is still Photomatrix but there are a few out there as good. From what I've been reading NIK is to have an HDR out soon as well. I use NIK software a lot so I'm pleased to hear this.
I've played with HDR but my tripod isn't the greatest and I can only shoot 3 pics through bracketing. I downloaded a tethering program, which will allow me to shoot multiple shots at different appeture/shutter speeds all remotely. So soon as I get a few decent pics I'll upload some samples.
I'd try and get a bit more separation in the first one between the clouds and sky. If you use NX2 you can almost accomplish an HDR look with using all the u-points. Second one I'd deepen that sky a bit more. Just my opinions though.

Some of mine... I used to play around a bunch with HDR. I don't remember which a true HDR and which are Photomatrix...

Taken on a recent trip to Lake Tahoe in Sep. 3 pics bracketed, brought into Lightroom and then NIK HDR-PRO.

Here's an HRD I processed this morning. This is a tree that belongs to my neighbor in the back. I'm trying out the new Photomatix 4.0 and that's the reason why the watermarks in the pic. So far I like the program but I do like the selective features of NIK. Maybe there is a way to do this in Photomatix but what I did here was process two separate, 3-batch of pics (Each set at -2, 0, +2 and 1 set @f16 and the other @f11). Brought them into PS and then merged them and brought the best features out of each using masking. Hope you like my rendition of a Fall pic.
