Hello fellow MWBP members! I was at the Overland Park boat show and approached Mr. Ron Dugan of Capt. Rons about the possibility of having a mini shootout. He seemed very receptive to the idea, so I asked if he would mind if I explored the idea on MWBP.com
What I am proposing is anyone who has radio controlled boats, that we set up a race format and play with them to the enjoyment of spectators.
I believe we have several members who have boats, the question is???? Anyone interested?
Obviously it would not be on the weekend but sometime in the middle of the week. The cove that Cap't Rons is located is a buoyed no-wake cove.

Right now I am just throwing an Idea out there to see if any interest. If you are PM me!
Any suggestions welcomed......If enough interest I will co-ordinate with Mr. Dugan

Thanks Bill McNeal

After looking on Ebay...some of the prices....yikes I could buy a decent used jetski. I'm sure the RTR kits are junk ?

I would be interested a straight line top speed like the shootout boats do. My boat does not corner worth a chit so a course would not work for me.

I dont know how fast mine goes...40mph?

Roger if you had stopped by when you made your week long trip I had a tri-oval to practice on.

I believe the hull design is that of a mystic???

Sooo, classes for gas, electric by type? i.e. RTR G & E class, kit G & E class, etc.?

I wouldn't mind being shown up. I have a old Radio Shack that has a fixed channel. So that could be problem.

Straight line course along the shore somewhere and some one with a good stop watch could work.

You can spend any where from $600 for a used boat to $****.** for one that you build yourself. I paid $735 for my BJ55 and have spent another $600 or more since. The rtr (Readty to run) boats are cheaper but some come with junk parts. I have learned alot about these little turds since June 2009. If you find one you like let me know and I'll find out if it is a pos or not.

The best forum I hve found to date is www.jrcbd.com. They have a really good classified page with some pretty good buys on complete boats. I have noticed that individual parts are pretty high priced. Most of the people on the site seem to be very up front and hoest.

Here is my Blackjack 55 (BJ55). I have a 26cc RCMK gas motor with tuned pipe. The RCMK motors are pretty new and make 5hp stock with tuned pipe. The boat is 55" long and weighs around 15 lbs. My top speed is 51.1 mph.

It is a toxic motor, I believe the mix I ran last year had way to much oil in it so it could go a "little" faster :)

I mix 8 oz of Honda hp2 in 1 gallon of 91 no ethanol. Just by watching your youtube it looks like you need to tilt the strut down? How long have you been running the rc boats? Do you know how much hp your Toxic is suppose to have? How long is that boat (as I recall it is alittle longer than mine)? I hope this come together I' am already looking forward to it. I know 3 or 4 guys here at the lake and they know nother 3 or 4.

My goal is about 53. I have been told that my rtr boat will not handle that kind of mph. The sprint cat 41" are prety fast little bastard. With the same motor I have they will run in the 60's.

You can't possibly have a mini shootout without a large organization to run things. One full of officials that care nothing about the sport, only being officials. You will need a really long acronym like the I.F.A.P.M.S.I. and a rule book of at least 6000 pages plus a web site that appends that at least twice a week. Everyone will need large corporate sponsors and semi sized transporters and along with helicopters and film crews. After the 1st event everyone will hate everyone on the other teams, who were all obviously cheating, and someone high up in the organization will have embezzled most of the funds paid into the organization. The I.F.A.P.M.S.I will be forced into bankruptcy and purchased by a competing organization, the E.P.Z.F.M.O.I.A., who operates under an entirely different set of rules designed to improve competition. There will be only 3 teams left in the sport to try and compete in the 67 classes which have been formed in hopes of making sure everyone gets a trophy. Which is the good news, there will be 12 foot high trophy's.

Or you could just have a day to show and play with the boats while we all get some rays and drink and watch. No trophy's though. Your guys call. I will be there in either case cause those things are damn cool.

Sorry to report, not to good. I got the rudder mounted and then some things came up this winter that ate up my free time. [smilie=106.gif]
Unless things really calm down I don't think I'm going to get it running this summer.

If anyone wants a boat to play with/race I'm selling my 1/8th Miss Budweiser. PM me & make me an offer.
I ran it once or twice, put it on the shelf & just look at it collecting dust. It has some damage that has been repaired by Twisted Liquid Racing, just needs a fresh paint job to be 100% again.

I dusted off a Kyosho Jetstream GP 10 I had sitting on the shelf. The little OS 10 just won't cut it and I'm looking for options. I've researched a little on both the nitro motors and electric.
