View Full Version : the cvx wants to go fast - what prop did James Bond use?!

I've got a '86 16' Glastron Carlson with a 115hp Mercury Mariner on it. Ok, not quite James Bond vintage, but close enough for these purposes.

When I bought it, the previous owners had a SS 19" prop on it. At least, I'm assuming it's 19. This is the exact prop: Power Tech Propellers M135RED3R19P.

I'm not a gear head by any means. I just know I want to go faster. Think that's possible with a different prop on this boat? The prop that's on there seems to get me up and going pretty quick. I'm willing to sacrifice some of the hole shot for more top-end. That sound doable with what I'm working with?

I've been told for my boat that Speedwake and other forums are better suited, but want to check the experience and knowledge base here as well.

Thanks!!

The best site for technical questions on the carlsons are:

www.carlsonspeed.com
www.iboats.com - the forum section, this is the best technical forum I have ever seen.

A modified chopper will give the best top speed with light loads. Also a Laser 2 that is blue printed work very well.

CVX I've got a stock 23P Lazer II on my baja which is more of an OB prop. You're more than welcome to borrow it and give it a try and see if you can swing it.

Hmmm, that might actually be pretty interesting to test out. Will chat more with you about that. Thanks for the offer! [smilie=trink39]

Greg - You're killin' me. You know how bad I'd like to own one of those. As usual, no way I could make that happen financially though.

But I am always curious. What do you have a line on now? Does this have anything to do with you looking for a long distance hauler recently?

Nothing to do with me. Doug has my old 28 and is thinking about offing it.

Geesh! A 21p just showed up on my doorstep today! Father in law thought I should give it a shot. How cool is that?!

Gotta keep an eye on the weather now to see if I'll actually be able to get it out and play still this year.

You've got plenty of time before the water starts to ice over. Just run up to Lake Zumbro and take it for a spin.

just watch where you run between the fish and sandy point , it has gotten real shallow thru there
