In the Chicken category at the Muddy Water BBQ contest in Hannible on Saturday. I finished in 7th place overall. This was my very first competition as the "Pitmaster" and chief cook. Private Stock Girl and myself made up my team. It was a lot of fun.
This was a KCBS state championship event, with a few big names from the area in it, so it was a pretty big deal.
By the way if you have never been to downtown Hannible, it is a very neat area, and they put on a kick ass party. There were bands both days and both bands were incredible and would have no trouble keeping a Dog Days crowd on the dance floor. We didn't visit any, but it looks like there are some good bars downtown as well.

Thanks,
I'm not sure when the next one I'm doing is, for sure one in early july b/c the condo is rented.
I won't get rich doing it, but I love the experience, and when I get a placing it doesn't hurt the catering or vending business.

Congrats!!!! Sounds like fun. I would love to figure out the trick to consistent smoked meats. I've had my best efforts on an old Weber grill and chunked hickory out of the back 40. Can't get this new, electric one figured out.....I think the temp gauge is a POS

Not quite as good of show this weekend down in Wellsville. 14th overall (Nice little community.) But our overall scores were up and we up our placing in two categories, Ribs and Pulled Pork. Finished tied for 5th in Ribs. Pretty big deal, there were some serious rib cookers there. Competition was also much stiffer, there were two American Royal champions, one a two time winner, and a handful of restraunt owners. I got to meet the guy that owns Half-Sauced, Real nice guy. He got me in Chicken and Brisket, but I beat him in Ribs and Pulled Pork.
No comps now until September, (Quincy) to much boating to do. Lots of cooking to do though. If anyone needs anything let me know, I can cook it up, freeze and bring down.

Competed in the Smoke on the Water BBQ festival in Quincy Illinois last weekend.
The Cynful ones finished 3rd in ribs, 6th in Brisket, and 6th overall.
It was quite a finish as there were 39 teams in the contest, and 6 of those 39 are ranked in the top 100 in KCBS bbq comps this year, we beat 5 of the 6.
Getting closer all the time.
