We are two weeks from the Perry Party: Starting a new thread to get confirmation on who is going, our plans, etc...

LakeRat will be arriving Thursday Night in the LakeRat Inn with the slow toon, plan on staying through mid day on Sunday.

I am thinking about Rock Creek Marina for a slip, as there are peeps staying in the cabins, as well as they have a really cool bar/restraunt. The past couple of events have been on the other side of the lake, but hey, its just an idea.....

I know we have a thread dedicated to discussing the Perry parties this year, but it's getting pretty long. Here's a new thread to post specifically about the Spring party coming up in 10 days or so.

Guitar Man and I will be out Friday and Saturday (June 12 & 13). We can't wait to see everyone!!

Sounds like Jay, T. Myers, Sheldon, Doogie and many others are arriving on Friday to boat......who else is planning on it? Richie? Christian? Brian? Jeff & Teresa? Post up peeps! :)

Hey, just letting everyone know.

I have to release 2 hotel rooms today at Rock Creek Marina. I am keeping one. Had some friends back out. Need to let them know ASAP. If anyone wants them let me know. It is about $225 for 3 nights but I am sure they would let people drop Thursday if it wasn't needed.

Thanks

Assuming the R word stays away and not too many puss out. I would expect 35-50 in the cove Fri with 25-40 being MWBP related.
Sat, guesstimate 100-150 total with 60-80 MWBP related
Sun, 60-80 total, 30-40 MWBP

I am throwing out the suggestion to attempt a "gauntlet" of back to back lines, [smilie=trink39] if the weather cooperates with not too much wind.
The key is for those arriving early to get anchors set and established then EVERYONE arriving needs to properly set anchors to keep things straight.
For those unfamiliar, we dont have the luxury of LOTO with half the line anchored by beached houseboats plus the wave action from the N and E from general boats running takes more planning to be successful

John, either marina should be able to launch as well as the State Park's main ramp. I am more familiar with LPYM.com, the south marina. It would not be a difficut back down from the marina's launching driveway, they bring semi's with house boats.
As for slips, I dont know any quite that big that are technically "open"
There would be several places you could end tie or side tie and still get water and power. You need to ask for Bryan at the marina.
I may have a line on a 34x14 covered that is under utilitzed and easily accessable by a larger boat, might be available for the weekend. Have to do some checking if that is interesting? Drop me a PM.
There might be a couple more options too, but lets exhaust the above first.
I wish I knew how to zoom in and post google earth.

Marina wise, I'd go to LPYM as you'll have better luck there as long as their boat yard gate is open.

If you want the best ramp at the lake, go to the State Park, like wwmkwood said.... When are you going to be there? I'd LOVE to see your boat.... of course... I'd have to get the wife and newborn out of the house....

Well, here's an aerial of the state park ramp... the boats that are parked there are probably your normal bass boat and tow vehicle. :)

I was just wondering what time some of you planned on getting there, I just want to get out on the water. Where is there a dock big enough for a 46ft boat I checked the marina's web site and it shows no slips. Is this the only place to dock at night? Also where is the ramp?

As for putting in and pulling out (shut up, Sheldon [smilie=crazy] )

Don't use EITHER marina ramp!! They're both too steep and LPYM is a bitch to get around parked trailers...etc. Parking is way cramped. And I've heard people are catching props on cables under water by the water break since they moved a dock.

Rock Creek - you'll never get your boat out because they put blacktop at the top of the ramp - so if it's even damp, you'll sit and spin. And parking your truck/trailer in the lot is about a quarter mile (I may be exaggerating a little, but not much!!) walk up hill back to you boat!

Use the State Park ramps - plenty of room to move around the parking lot, ramps aren't too steep, too shallow. Just makes life a lot easier at the State Park.

We use State Park every weekend.........as long as the water is high (which it should still be on Saturday from all the rain), you should be fine. Although, when the water is low, we have heard of people with larger boats going off the edge of the ramp with their trailer tires when backing down. We have friends with a 38 Fastech who always use the Federal ramp nearby - it's steeper and not as wide, but better for longer boats to launch (they claim anyway). I will shoot you a PM with our phone number in case you want to discuss further as we get closer.

We are STOKED to see your BT!!! I have always said, if we won the lottery, THAT would be my boat, hands down. I don't need to go 90 MPH, I love the space and luxury that the BT's affford.

Yes John State Park is the Only ramp to use period. Not real steep but you can back in as far as you need to w/o trailer tires dropping off the end of the ramp. Atleast I can with the 38 and 40'. Also get directions to that ramp cause it's not where most will be putting in. It's a LONGGG way around the lake. Plenty of parking also and bath houses right there.
These will give you an idea how steep it is and I'll put in a good word for you on a slip for dinner.

I say [smilie=291.gif] weatherman. They are just in if for the ratings to keep you watching.
Look at the radar, see if there is anything developing or how fast it will move, then hit the water. Rain never lasts as long as the beer (unless you didnt pack enough beer)

Examples from last fall, in the rain- no problems
After the rain - TOO MANY MISSED A GREAT DAY!

After talking to the bar people,

Duke's at LPYM (south marina) is heavy staffing both Fri and Sat with extra cooks and wait staff (looking pretty good I may add) They have a biker poker stop at 4pm Fri and plan on carrying the party on from there.
Friday and Sat - DJ and karaoke both nights. Food, drink, and shot specials. Watch out when Chris breaks out the mega sized (gallon plus) martini glass, it gets crazy!
Park boats at the small courtsey dock, uncovered slips on A dock (under 28'), gas dock in the middle of marina. If headed toward courtsey dock, stay away from the rock wall especially on the N set of covered docks, there is a shallow cable off the rock.

Boondocks at Rock Creek (north marina) -
Friday - no special plans was not sure if ballroom would be open
Saturday - Steve Kile Band - covers just about every music genere - good time and gets people on the dance floor! Check out his foot pedal action and you would think there were more than two people playing :)
Park boats - courtsey dock (if small), gas dock (once closed 7pm i think). stack boats in front of outside dinning and walk way.

So as far as bars go......Spread the love - Friday - Duke's, Saturday - Boondocks [smilie=trink39]

What are the rules regarding nudity on the water? Have been to PC at perry dozens of times and to "naked cove" several but am always nervous about what the rules really are.

I'm sure others will chime in, but Topless is fine... anything more then that would attract the attention of the local law I would think.

To be completely honest, I'm not sure that topless is legal, but I've not seen anyone get ticketed for it either... anyone else?

In Kansas, just being nude isn't technically illegal. They have this ambiguous law that they like to use to charge people sans clothing:

"Under Kansas state law (Kansas Statutes Annotated 21-3508), "lewd and lascivious behavior" includes "publicly exposing a sex organ or exposing a sex organ in the presence of a person who is not the spouse of the offender and who has not consented thereto, with intent to arouse or gratify the sexual desires of the offender or another."

Conviction of breaking that is a class B misdemeanor. Now, if there was someone under the age of 16 present, then it becomes a level 9 felony.

So, if the lake patrol isn't around, don't worry it.

If they are, just make sure no underage kids are there. Basically pasties and thongs are A-ok always.

Far as what to do and where to eat, it may be fun to just grill and have a good time, hit a bar later in the evening.

[smilie=trink39]

I agree hit the bar later, Nothing better than a camp fire burger and cold beer!

Richie...Steve says "no problemo"...right now there are 5 spots open by us if anyone with campers are coming in tonight. We are right by the cabins Jeff, Theresa, Arlene & Ron stayed in at the fall party last year. We have a small grill, a campfire pit with a grill on it, a microwave & a stove.

We had a blast!!! It was great to meet everyone, and at the same time sucked to not meet everyone.

Let me explain, there were so many people there that in 48 hours, and at last count about 75 beers there was no way to talk to everyone.

The folks we did get to know a little are great fun[smilie=trink39]

We were the first boat to tie up Fri and Sunday so it was cool being in the center of the line, Sat we forgot stuff in the room flew back and forth and were the 6th to tie up.

Sunday we were all packed up to go. We took a breakfast cruise up the main part of the lake. When we got back to the no wake zone inder the bridge we ran into some folks who were on their way to the cove. After a small amout of arm twisting:mrgreen: We went and grabbed our suits and flew back to the cove.
We stayed intill about 2 and then headed for home.

Will post pics, in the Perry Pics thread when I get home from work today

Ouch! That looks bad, Sheldon!! I guess that was before I got there?? Never heard a thing about it.

Sorry I didn't get to meet everyone, I got there a little late on Saturday. My brother had to go and get himself mugged and beat up pretty bad in KCMO. I went to KC Saturday morning to pick him up - got him home and in my mom's good hands, and still managed to come to the lake. I realize I wasn't my normal self - I'll make up for it. It was good to see everyone, though. Would have been better had John and the American Thunder been there - and my little brother!!

(thank you Susie for getting my text, Matt for coming to get me and Mike and Kiersten for letting Matt steal your boat to come get me) - you guys are the greatest!!

Until next time....
