Does anyone know if there is any laws, rules, regulation, etc. about how far a boat can extend out of the slip? I am looking for a different boat, but was told buy someone that the boat can't stick out more than three feet. I don't want to sell what I have if I can't go bigger, any help would be apppreciated.
Our condo complex has an rule in our by-laws. We allow 8'. It used to be 4' ,but we had some serious violators so we just changed the by-laws. I have never heard of a law, but I'm not 100% sure. I use to hang out 4', it made cleaning the bow a beotch. Added 4' to my slip. It is nice to have the bow covered. Next boat I'll probably hang out again.

I have read somewhere that 4' many condo associations have their own rules, not sure what they would or could do with the too long parked boat?

From Ameren web site - http://www.ameren.com/lakeozarks/ADC_DockSizeLimits.asp
Basically, ya can't if the dock was permitted after March '08. Doesn't hurt to call, as they may have some differing stuff for shorter docks.

Great info, most Condo's are 4', but to be safe I would check the by-laws and I certainly would check with the WP and Ameren before I actually bought a boat. Better to be safe that sorry.

Thanks for the info. Our condos don't have a limit on the overhange to the outside just can't hang over the walkway on the inside. I will contact Ameren before we go bigger though. By the way, DD breakfast and the Hop was great! Almost backed out because of the forecast.

The last thing I heard was that the boat could not be extended more then 5' and that it could not extend past the roof line any. Last summer when I asked Ameren about this they said it was only a suggestion (Shoreline management program) and was not a law at that time. If it ever does become law no dock builder in their right mind should do a 5' roof overhang. Which really means can not extend out of the slip but 1 maybe 2'.

At the same time it was preposed that no dock will be longer then 50' (I think 50'). Later I had heard they changed the length to 60' total. This would keep 50'+ boats off LOTO which my not be a bad thing?

That was the most new members I've meet on the water at once in a long time. Glad you made it to the Duck.

This is what Ameren has on their website.
The maximum boat slip size shall not exceed 55 feet in length for residential permits and 60 feet for commercial (marina) permits. Any watercraft moored within slips permitted after March 30, 2008 shall not extend beyond the mouth of the slip.
