I am about to purchase a 1989 27 foot mach 1. any thoughts on these boats??

any problems with these that are common??

are they goodd boats??

Welcome to the site. Sorry, I don't have any experience with a Mach 1 boat, but if you're looking at a 20 year old boat I think a survey is mandatory.

I had that exact boat, was my first one. A 1989 Mach 1 Concorde. It had a 460 and OMC King Cobra.... It was gray and a faded maroon type color. If it still has the OMC, I would ditch it and go black. easy swap, you just need to add two new holes to the transom to fit a standard B1 transom assembley. It was a good boat. Reliable (except for the outdrive)...
I liked the boat, rode well, gave us several years of fun on the lake!

I don't have any experience with that particular boat but you will need to look it over VERY close for structural integrity. If it is OMC powered I personally would pass. There are lots of boats out there for sale. Don't get it too big of a rush. Good luck!

Spend a few hundred on a survey (you may need it for insurance anyway) and walk if it is an OMC (changing to a B1 would prolly be too expensive).

Mach 1's are great boats and have a great track record. All of it has to do with how its cared for.

We just got a 290 Mach 1 But I got the history cause it only showed 88 hrs on it. Come to find out it was only used as a demonstrator for Baha. It ride,s very well in rough water but it is not fast...:roll: But for the money it was well worth it. i can always add HP. It wont have low hrs on it for long we put 149 hrs on our boat last year.

thanks for all the help. i really appreciate it. it is our first boat.
we are having a mechanical inspection and everything checked out.

i will let everyone know how it goes. maybe we will see some of ya out on the lake this weekend.
