Well, it's that time again. The races are drawing closer and we need as many volunteers as we can get. I am working with Kent Morris from Pirates Point and we welcome anyone interested in being up close and personal with the race and not afraid to hold the line. Every year we have had the best volunteers and I hope this year is even better.

Please chime in or PM me with your cell number and boat/passenger info.

Thank you,

Matt

We are in for OSS, but we cannot work Shoutout.

We can confirm everything as we get closer, but I would like first dibbs on the same part of the course I have worked the last 2 years, if possible.

It is going to be a great year!!!

What do patrol boats do?

What kind of boats are needed?

Patrol boats are a buffer between the spectator fleet and the course. You help hold the line from swimmers and boats crossing over it. If that line is crossed over, there's a good chance water patrol will shut down the course until everything is straighten out. Volunteers are the backbone of these type of events and play a big role in the success of that event.

I don't believe they have a standard on a patrol boat, if it's a boat and floats. I think you are good to go. I also believe they would accept waverunners.

Dirty Duck said it right, you are the buffer and as far as boats go as long as you can get there I could really use the help.

Nice talking to you today, I need more info!

Kathy and I are interested in helping out. I'm down Wednesday night and could help some on Thursday and Friday if needed as she's working. Then we can both help Saturday and Sunday.

Hey flying 33. I would be interested in helping out a day or two. I am not sure the schedule of the shootout but the dates I am available is 24,25,26th Does this help any?

If I came I would just sleep in the Donzi or get a cheap motel somewhere because I am coming down for labor day. I have a megaphone so keeping people back will be easier with that. It would just be me and maybe one other person.

I fly in the 22nd and do not want to miss the shootout if I can help it. I cant make the weekend events due to a preplanned floattrip with tons of family and friends but I would be more than happy to help out the 24th 25th or 26th.
