Since the old standby bait shop has closed (Beubouts), we typically go to the one up on 54 across from the mini golf place (a fireman from St. Louis runs it). Be careful there, though, as they are always trying to sell you chit you don't need. I will bet sometimes they chuckle when folks leave with a bagful. They do , though, usually have some crawdads for sale (whatever they tell you, the smaller and medium ones are better baits).
We have found the minnows to be much better (as in they are stronger and live alot longer) at the gas station down by the titty bar by the strip, or the BP station on the 54 bypass near the river.
I'm not very good at it, but we throw our own net for shad. They are an awesome bait for the cats.
Are there any bait shops on the water?
woah woah woah here....
Which titty bar?

We go to Cindy Lou's on W. It's about 2 miles down W from 54. It's a complete dump and the owner is full of chit, but the kids love it. They have a bunch of lazy dogs and cats roaming around that the kids like to see. They used to have a rooster walking around also, but they got rid of him last Spring.
He always tells me the fish are biting, but I never catch anything but a buzz. Either he's full of chit or I don't know what I'm doing!

I will go a long way out of my way to go to a bait shop like that! Hang around those places long enough, close the mouth and open the ears, and you can learn a ton.

No help.
No help at ALL.

You're not drinking enough, then you'll just think you're catching FISH or won't care.

I use Busters, but they used to have minnows at Ozark BBQ but I have not been there for a while. I will tell you that I haven't been able to find shad recently, but the second best thing for the catfish are shiner minnows they have them at Busters, they are hard to find any other place. Don't bother with goldfish the shinner minnows are much better.

How come after I buy minnows there and then stop off at the titty bar for about 3 hours and then head to McDonalds for some late night snack. By the time I get back I lost most of the minnows:confused: I guess I is a redneck LOL

Just in case someone is new to using live minnows, put some ice in the minnow bucket. It seems to keep them alive longer.

Unless you're here in MN, then we put snow in the minnow bucket... That's not a joke, plus we have to keep the minnow bucket inside to keep if from freezing solid...
