Has anybody here fished below the dam? We do it several times a year off of the bank, and a couple of times we have taken my sons bassboat down there. When the fish aren't biting in the lake, it is worth a try. It seems like weather has a lot less to do with the "bite" down there as it does up on top. We have fished on both the "strip" side and the opposite side with about the same success. Its also a good place to "mingle with the natives". We have caught white bass, largemoth bass, crappies, catfish, and even a gar down there.

Below the dam may as well be a million miles away from LOTO. Different people, different technique, different water. But its still fishin'. When all of the gates are open, it is so loud that you have to yell to be heard at 20 feet, and there are waves coming on to shore that is a bit like the ocean, albiet on a smaller scale.

If you get a chance, check it out!

I've caught bait there before but never fished it. I have seen the fisherman run like hell when the alarm goes off before they open the gates, that was enough to scare me away.
