I know that not many of you are into fishing, but I am bringing some guys down Thursday night for a weekend of crappie fishing. Has anybody been out?

Has been slow in the Grand Glaize. I have quite a few trees under my dock and nothing yet.

Hubby was down this weekend and caught a boatload. He said they are coming up on the banks now. He wants to leave Wednesday eve to go back!

I don't get out to fish very much, but my neighbor goes out almost everyday and always amazes me, he always gets his limit and gives me fish all the time. I don't even have to clean/fillet them, what a great neighbor.

the water temp needs to be about 62 to 65 for the crappies to really take off.probably happen a week from wednesday.just happens to be when 10 guys coming down to the house to fish (wishfull thinking)I'm sure we can find some cold beer if the crappie aren't biting

I just called my Neighbor on the 50MM he caught 7 this morning in about an hour and was just heading out for his afternoon trip. He wasn't slaying them but he didn't get skunked either.

Where did you find them? It appeasr like this week is going to be on the cool side, so I would maybe expect for them to not be hitting the banks quite yet.

Any word on how the catfish and bass are biting? One of the guys coming down with me this weekend is really into cats.

I did not realize that we had so many fisherman around here. Hell, for the most part I'd rather fish than just about anything else going on.

The female bass are not quite on the beds yet (as of Sat). I would think this weekend would be a great weekend for bass. The spawn should be starting any day.

Just come over to Heron Bay, Dick threw a bag of fish at me from the B building in a zip lock. I didn't have to catch, clean or leave the place. [smilie=crazy] Kathy loves fish and said the crappie was very good. She pan fried them with some seasoning.

secret fishing holes hahahahha

I'd never ask for any "secrets", just wondering what kind of bait/colors/depths/what part of the lake/etc.

I love to eat fresh fish, but I have to admit that I am one of those guys that gives away much of what we catch. Eating fresh crappies is about like eating candy.

How do you all prepare them? I have gotten to the point that I scale them, and then I fillet them leaving the skin on. I will not bread them or anything, but place them directly on the Big Green Egg. Brush a little butter on them, just a bit of spice, and let them go until they are white and flaky. Pull them off and eat them while still hot. Leaving the skin on makes them much easier to grill and you just eat the skin along with the meat. man I can't wait till this weekend!

Maybe we should ask if there could be a "Fishing" section in MWBP? Those of us that fish quite a bit could share tactics with each other, while it may give a reference to some of those that don't fish much. If they have guests coming down to the lake that like to fish, it may be a way to help them have some success and enjoy all the lake has to offer. At LOTO, you can pretty much catch fish 24/7/365!

Was down over the weakend. Thought I'd grab some minnows, beer, and chair to fish from my pals dock (lick branch). Expected to do more drinking than catching, but was completely wrong. We were pulling them constantly. They were beautiful fish, but mostly under 9-10 inches. Fished at dif't depths, but all fish were same size. Next year they should be some monsters.

With a low coming in, it appears like the fishing may be a bit slow, but we are going to give it our best! If anybody else is out this weekend, post to this thread and I will do the same.
