I need a few ideas. The last few years I had 2 10" Kicker Comps in a sealed box sitting on the floor. It worked out because I could remove it and wouldn't worry about it disappearing at night. The Box got wet and needs replaced and I would like to gain my floor space back. Where do you guys place your subs? Would it be a good idea to have a stereo shop build a custom box for me or should I build one myself? I own a 2003 Bayliner 205 BR. Any help or even pictures would be appreciated.

Normally under the rear bench. Requires you to give up storage space tho.

Those 10"ers might be to big to fit under the back seat I had to go with 8"ers because of that.

I would imagine with a smaller boat, and bayliner (known for smaller, low seats) your best placement would probably be under the drivers console. A single 12 is usually all that fits. Yes, you would need to build an enclosure to get good sound. Free air will make some noise but not have the hit of an enclosure.
I am having a cousin in the cabinet industry make a box for me. I did some research and found a couple exterior grade MDF, Extira is one we priced. It is about double the cost of a std MDF sheet at around $70 for 3/4" but I consider it worth it if it stays together.
If you want the bigger sound you are used to, a dual box is still prob your best option. You might also look at using a spray liner or paint instead of carpet. They can shoot liner pretty thin for coverage vs heavy duty durability in a truck bed.
Any of those options is going to be considerably more expensive than a standard box so weigh that against the planned cost of another $100 for a new box every 2 yrs and invest $10 in a roll of 55 gal bags to keep it covered during rain, overnight dew, and storage when not in use.

Being a bowrider, I would try and put them under the bow seating.

I have (2) Kicker 10's in custom ported boxes in the rear bench seat base. They fire straight up and I vented the sides of the base to allow pressure to escape. Had done the same on a previous smaller bow rider with great results. Very hard to get wet beneath there but I'm always careful to dry things out. I have seen the drivers mounted on the face of that seat base but then they'll be more visible to thieves.

LA69MM, I wouldn't mind seeing pics if you get a chance.

The only one I have here on the laptop... the port is 4" going out the side of the box and then you can see the vent on the side of the seat base.
Those are the old drivers.

Subs are "non-directional", put them anyplace you can make room. They do not need to aim for sound quality.

How big of a pain was it to get the seat off to mount them there?

Not too bad. Lay on your back and run out 6 phillips screws going into the seat bottom. If you're smaller than me and more of a contortionist...real easy. I've done it more times than I care too. Just summer of 2007 when I got broken into and they ripped the rear seats out to get at the drivers. Left the boxes fortunately as I had them screwed down.
I have the exact dimensions of the box and the port size and all if you want it. I built the same boxes for several friends' 266's where they were running Sony subs and they play real good. I wanna say I ended up with about 1.25 cu ft. volume.
