Video iPod trouble

Is anyone else having trouble? Mine's an older 30 gig, but has played videos, tv shows and movies fine until a couple of days ago. It just locks up with a black screen. I know how to reboot it but I can't get anything to play. I've searched and apparently it's related to a security patch in the latest automatic software download? And no fixes. I'm not paying $30 for a service call. I'll be pi$$ed if I can't play any more videos. Does anyone know what's going on??

I've got the 80gb and haven't run across any problems yet...that I know of. Did you check on the iLounge site? Great forum for everything iPod.

Thanks. I'm looking through there but haven't found a solution yet. I reluctantly decided to restore it and no luck. Still no video.
