Using a perko switch is no big deal. Run the entire stereo off battery 2. The good thing about a switch is you have control. You also have the ability to switch to second battery if the primary one is dead.

Yep, exactly. I've got a switch and an isolator, and they work together like a champ.

So, battery 2 for stereo & battery 1 for motor. When it's time to go, will alternator charge battery 2?

If you use an isolator, yes.

The switch has off, batt#1, all, and batt#2 positions.

If you run down a battery #2, switch to #1 to start and then switch to "all" or #2 or vice versa if you run down #1.

So, who can hook mine up the right way? I read this stuff & it looks like the ancient Egyptians wrote it.
And to think I make 1.6 Megawatts of electricity at my job all alone. Liken that to Homer Simpson running the reactor.

I say if its already all wired and you're not having isssues with your running your batteries down, then leave it alone.

Ok so I'm adding a 2nd Battery and an isolater to my new(used) pontoon, My question is how much of a charge can I expect from a year 2000 50Hp Johnson?
I am adding a new receiver, small 600 watt amp and a 10" sub. all are Bazooka marine
This pontoon thing is new to me after selling my dragboat...But it will be nice to have some tunes.

not enough, small OB alts are really just meant to keep the start battery topped off and light your running lights.
You should prob get a 10 amp dual battery charger and plug in after each day's playing.
