Mid to late June, I think that we are going to head towards Canada for an extended weekend (within a few hours of International Falls) of fishing. For anybody that has been up there, I am looking for a lake and a guide for a couple of days that can put us on both walleyes and northern. Anybody have any suggestions?

Try Halley's Camp. They have several options to choose from.

We've used these guys several times. We have always flown (float plane) from Kenora to Rowdy Lake Camp for a week long trip. For an extended weekend however you might try Crow Rock Lodge on Lake of the Woods right in Kenora. The same people run both camps, great to work with and they really take care of you.

My bro-in-law caught this 42" Northern on Rowdy Lake last year (on the link I posted earlier)

Remember, the larger the bait, the larger the catch.[smilie=042.gif]

Good idea also to familiarize yourself with their regulations.
For years I have caught crappie at LOTO, I threw them back, I thought they were to small. Turns out the size limit is 9 inches, instead of pounds. I wish I would have kept the 7 pounder now![smilie=106.gif] [smilie=106.gif]

Being that you are from IA are you planning on towing a Lund up with you or looking for a full service guide? I grew up in Waterloo and have been to that area, and further, up in Canada many times but never saw the need for a guide. We always threw black and white, and red and white daredevil spoons. That time of the month you should be ok as far as the ice being off the lake.

Caught tons of Walleys here below a waterfall. walleye and smallmouth were great but slim on Northern.

We have fished here the last three years and have had a great time, the fishing is excellent and the accomodations are superb. The price sheet should be on the website, however you can call and they will cater to about any trip length you want.
FYI: It's all catch and release, except what you are going to eat while there.

I missed this thread the first time around  We stayed here a few years back for 10 days http://www.lacseulsgoldeneagleresort.com/ A buddy of mine has been going there for years with his family and we had a really good week of fishn'. Just one word of advise don't make a wrong turn, went from asphalt to gravel to a dirt and grass roadway in no time right thru the reservation [smilie=crazy]

My wife and I talked about this again this past weekend. Since we are not going anywhere in particular, I will probably figure it out the week before we leave. Maybe I can find some special rates.

So much for any special rates. I am finding that most places are sold out early. Not time to scramble yet. My other challenge is that they rent on a Saturday to Saturday basis, and we would be there Thursday through Monday. Oh well, I've slept in a car before.
