OMC had a teflon coated prop, I believe it was called the SST supposedly gave you 5 MPH. Did it work and if it did why isn't it being done now? I see some of the new props have holes on the leading edge of the hub does this work?

Tes they were called SST's. They weren't any faster than comparable relatively thin 3 blade stainless propellers from other companies.
The holes are to release exhaust gases onto the propeller blades to aid in quicker planning times. They have no effect on top speeds.

the coated OMC props were a sales gig
they wanted them to look like aluminium so they would not get stolen..
kinda funny , but it worked

Actually the black was teflon. They said it would repell the water and make them faster. Your right, a sales gig.
