prop???

am running an 1989 scarab excel 28 new 454 600 hp and 620 torq. bravo 1 1.5 ratio with a mirage plus 23 i know a 23 not sure about the plus. boat weighs approx 4000 lbs want to spin it around 5500 rpms ran last week and saw 70 speedo @ 5100 wot and trimed out

It is important to know if the prop is a Mirage or Mirage Plus. It makes a difference of about 300 rpm and on boats with the drive mounted deep in the water the Mirage is usually faster than the Mirage Plus.

If you are happy with the hole shot and handling of the boat going with a 21 pitch prop would get your rpm to about 5500. You would want to get the same model prop you have now. If you have a Mirage you can generally find used ones for a reasonable price. If you have a Mirage Plus these are available new, or you could look for a used one.
