I am first time poster on this board and I was told that this would be the place to get some questions answered about "Go Fast" Boats. A little bit about me, I have been in boating for 18 years and have mostly owned smaller run-abouts and ski boats. I have sold my boat and am researching the next boat I would like to own. I am looking for a boat "Go Fast" style of boat about 32 - 35 feet in length. The hull has got to be heavy/strong enough to take on the Main Channel of LOTO. I have a freind with a 30ft IMP Eleganza (spelling?) that does fairly well with the waves and I know IMP makes a good hull. I am not that familiar with Formula, Baja, Donzi, and Fountain but you see a lot of them on the lake. I would like opinions i.e. A 95 Fountain has 6 stringers but in 96 they put in a seventh so check those out or stay out from this hull design because they are to lite for the water conditions opinions like that.

I look forward to your replies and thanks for your time.

I have heard that the 35 Cigarette will do better then the Fountain in rough water.

But I am curious how Baja, Donzi, or Formula would hold up on heavy weekends.

Old Breed,

Welcome to the board!!! This is my humble opinion gathered from my 12 years in the boating business. I have driven just about every performance hull available except an Outer Limits which are just not that readily available to the public and of any I have driven the 35' CIgarette is probably the best riding boat in its size range. This is due in part to excellent design and its also the heaviest boat in its size. FOuntains are probably the better handling and most predictable of all the performance lines but lack a lot of creature comforts and cockpit as well as cabin space.

FOrmula and Donzi are also fairly heavy constructed compared to say the FOuntains and Baja's. The older 357 Formulas are a great riding boat and the 38 Donzi weights in at over 11,000 lbs! The 38 Special from Baja is also a great riding boat that carries alot of amenities and on board room.

Depending on your budget, I have a great boat for you, its a 2000 353 Formula FASTech with t/502's and around 180 hrs that would make you a great boat to get into the performance boat scene with. Call me at the numbers below for more details [smilie=042.gif] [smilie=050.gif]

I Know its not 30-35 ft(actually it is 30 feet including the platform), but this may be worth a look if rough water handling is what you are looking to do, I have been on this boat in 4-6 foot seas in Key West, and it WILL handle more!!!!!!!

'99 28 Pantera, Twin 502EFI's with recent full service By Tres Martin of Martin offshore in Lauderdale, including new injectors, secondary fuel filters Stainless Marine exhaust, etc. etc. close to 400 hours now, but extremely well maintained!!! Includes Tandem axle aluminum trailer, and full cockpit cover.

Boat ran 78MPH before stainless exhaust, and injector service, should be close to 80 now

PM me for more info.
