Me and some friends are deep frying 4 Turkeys tomorrow. We are all to season the turkey how we want. What is a good recipe for injecting Turkeys? I want to do this tonight, so any help would be great. Sorry for the short notice.

Go to your grocery store...they have different flavors of injections...choose your flavor!! The teryaki is really good.
I love deep fried turkeys!! Save some for me!!

We're doing 4 of them so there should be plenty. We are wanting to do from scratch.

Ooh...cajun would be good!!!
Daddy Hinkles is also a good seasoning, but I don't know how it'd taste in a turkey..
Talk to Christian - he could help you out, I'm sure!

rub them down with olive oil, then mustard, then cover them with cajun seasoning. mix up the same ingrediants and inject them. put in a plastic bag in the refrigerator or cooler full of ice. send one to me and cook the rest about 45 minutes @375 degrees
We had Thanksgiving at our house last year, and I did two turkeys on the grill, on a rotisserie. It was actually pretty good... not the same as deep frying, but they turned out well regardless.
Good luck!

My wife makes an awesome turkey (in the oven). She bast it every 15 minutes for the first hour or so. It is spicy and juicy (lots of pepper). It is by far the best turkey I have ever had and it's done in the oven.

If any of the four of you are experienced with frying turkeys in an oil fryer this probably goes without saying but what you need to do before you put the oil in the fryer is drop the turkeys in and fill the fryers with water till the birds are submerged. Then take the turkeys out and see what the water level is so you know how much oil to put in to the fryers with respect to the size of the bird. A grease fire will spoil your day fast.
Good luck and enjoy! Deep fried turkeys are fantastic.

Any injection with garlic flaver is awsome , also know the weight of you turkeys and use that for cook time its so many minutes per pound. I love deep fried gobblers so much better than baked, Start early it seems like it can take an hour or so per bird.

DON'T FRY THEM IN THE GARAGE
IF ITS COLD OUTSIDE
keep it outside and build a small wall to keep the wind off the fire
Our neighbors burnt there house down from a oil fire in the garage when they 1st came out a couple of years ago. :( [smilie=011.gif]
Other wise
have one heck of a bird day and good luck[smilie=trink39]

We use an electric deep fryer we got at Home Depot couple years ago, no worry of a fire with them plus it keeps the oil temp. constant

The butter Creole is great. Be sure and do some potatoes and then biscuits at the end. Throw some biscuit dough in and cook then sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.

We have deep fried several turkeys. The first few times we did the deep fry we used the injection method and found that the areas we injected almost looked uncooked or discolored after the turkey was cooked. Since then we have been just rubbing the turkey in various rubs.
Maybe we did the injection wrong?? Not sure but just rubbing the turkeys have tasted very good.
Good Luck, makes for a very fun day!

I am not a big fan of turkey, but my wife persuaded me to smoke one last year. I used a combination of apple and maple and smoked it for about 12 hours....OMG!! It tastes so good that this is now the only way we will cook one now. I have done the deep-frying to but smoking it is way better!!

I did this as a tradition for my ex'es family for about 4 years. It was positively the best turkey ever. Each year we tried different rubs and injections. Bought most of my seasonings at Gander Mountain, Cabelas or Bass Pro ... Cajun is incredible, Butter Creole, Garlic Butter is good too.

Turkeys turned out pretty good. The first one was a little done, of course it was our turkey. The weather was a bit chilly, but we had the fire pit going and a propane heater. Here are a few pictures of our day.
1. What is Lyle doing to that turkey?
2. Donna making sure Kim (Our cook) is getting the oil temp correct.
3. Joyce had something going on with shrimp.

I fried one on the dock on the Saturday of the OSS race. Used the butter creole injection and it was AWESOME! I had a belly full of beer also, but I'm sure that had nothing to do with it.:)

I always soak mine in a cooler for 24 hours before. The cooler contains honey beer, salt, brown sugar, luquid smoke, and ice. Then a rub down with cajun seasoning.

I melt butter (the real stuff), mix in some Tobasco and fresh garlic. Good stuff! This Thanksgiving, I'll deep fry one & put another in the smoker. Mmmm!
Oh, by the way, I learned the hard way about measuring the depth of the oil. Didn't burn anything down, but it was a pretty exciting time!

I hear nothing but horror stories about fires with deep frying turkeys.
From what I remember the water on a bird hitting the oil shoots the
oil out and then the gas flames hit the oil and BOOOOM!!
Wouldn't it be better to dry the turkey thuroughly, put it in the fryer,
fill the fryer with oil ( not water ) then remove, heat up the oil etc.
that way not too much oil and you are not introducing any water either?
I am definately no chef...and never deep fry anthing, can't afford the calories.
Just a thought.
