My Faria speedometer is stuck on 43 mph. It was working fine and then as I was slowing down it just stopped when it got there. Anyone else have that happen to them? Anyone know how to fix it? Thanks

The speedo pick-up is probably in the lower unit, and if it is it will be on the leading edgetowards the bottom. Take a drill bit (Small) and twist it into the hole. Once the wood is removed water should pour out of the hole and that should solve the problem.

i'd guess you hit a log on the river and it's clogged. They best thing to do is us a yard marker sign and not a drill bit. If you bust it off you are SOL.
Take a marker sign (Spring metal w/a flag on it used to for locates) and cut the end with a pair of dikes so it has a point on it. Put it in a cordless drill and ream out the pick up in the lower. You will get water and crap out of it, speedo will go to zero and should work next time out.

I've allways used a drill bit and my fingers, no drill, to gently reem the wood and crap out of the hole.

Sorry docjimm, you said wood, crap and hole all in the same sentence. I can't pass this one up   [smilie=hah] [smilie=point2.gif] [smilie=laughing4.gif]

Anytime you throw lower unit, wood, reem, hole, crap and fingers in a sentence its bound to start conversation. [smilie=265.gif]

Most the time go to 125 lbs on the air hose blow it works if it is in the driveway. Other than that keep a nice size needle in your cloth glove box tool kit if you have one. and a tiny pair of vice grips to hold the needles, works in a pinch when your in the water.

Meyerwrench,
looks like the board has your problem covered. They are correct in thinking that your speedo pitot tube is plugged up with debris. Probably wood like mentioned above. Eddie's helpful hint should work out nicely for you, we have a super long 1/8" drill bit that we VERY carefully work down the pitot tube to clear obstrucions. The stainless steel wire from the marker flag is safer bet for the DIY'er.
good luck [smilie=042.gif]

It's never good to have a plugged hole [smilie=071.gif]
