What difference does the prop hub make?

I have props with the 3"blade" centers, straight, tapered(diffusr), and was wondering what difference the vaious typw of prop hubs or centers make. Trying to learn more about props and ask less questions. As Always, Thanks![smilie=042.gif]

Well, if it has a blade center in it, that's tapered.... well, that sounds a lot like a "TURBO" to me....[smilie=crazy]

I understand that the diffuser ring helps push water to the blades better.
