I have a Sony DSC-W200 that will power on move the lense in and out a few times and then give an error "Turn the power off and on again" it worked at the Poker Run, didn't get wet or abused and now I can't take any pictures?! [smilie=106.gif]
I've charged the battery all the way up, removed it, cleaned the ends, turned it off and on a million times and it keeps giving me the same error message.
Is there a reset on the camera? Any other ideas? I'd like to take a few more pics this month and don't want to send it in if I can help it.
I can review pics and that function works fine.

Eddie had same problem with mine. Went out and bought a Canon problem fixed. There is no fix I'm aware of other than sending it in.

It's under warranty so I'm not worried about it being a Sony other than I'll be w/out it for a bit.

Anyone know why a camera would put a pink tint on pictures during a cloudy time of the day.

I called Sony this week and talked to someone that had a hard time with my English, I'm waiting for a letter and a receipt and then I have to send it in for repairs. Nice way to spend vacation, with no camera. I still have the video camera - maybe we can get DJ to make a Summer of Fun 2008 DVD next year.[smilie=crazy]
Many cameras have two batteries. The first battery is the one that everyone is aware of. It powers the unit for all of the normal functions. The second battery is often hidden. It is used to maintain other things like the clock (ever notice how it doesn't reset when you pull the battery) and many other things. In order to properly reset many cameras, you need to pull both batteries.
If this doesn't work, I would try a different battery if you have one. Your battery could have a problem. You could always go up to Best Buy or something like that and buy one to try. If it doesn't work, you can always return it.
If neither of these work, I would suggest the same thing with your memory stick. This could be the problem, but possibly not.
Also, speaking of the memory stick, look at the pins. Are any bent? This could be shorting out on you. After checking this, look in the camera and look at the socket to see if any of the pins in there are bent or touching each other. This has happened to a number of people.
If it is one of these, most likely the warranty won't cover it and you will have to pay for all of this shipping, their time to look at it, and fix it. I would try these before shipping it off.

Most likely, your white balance is messed up. Perhaps you manually set your white balance? It might have gotten moved to some other position by mistake. I would try this first. If you aren't familiar with what white balance is, I would definitely choose the auto setting. This is a safe way to test it if nothing else.
If this doesn't work, there are a number of other things, but most likely this is it.

Thanks for the imput. Im pretty sure it was on auto because i don't know much about white balance. Either way the lcd screen busted the next weekend for no appearent reason and then the pictures were blure ever since so i broke down and bought a canon. Hopefully the auto will either be better or i can figure out the 50 thousand different settings.

the powershot a720. It has a lot of features i will probably never use but it was only like 20 bucks more than the next lower one at Wal-Mart and 70 bucks less than the olympus 1010 i was looking at online.
The A720 IS is a nice camera. A lot of camera for the money!

We have the same Sony Camera. Same problem. Took it to get fixed, guy said he had seen it before. He told us to recycle it and buy s a canon.

I don't think you can go wrong with the Canon's. We had a little point and shoot for a few years, went with a 12x zoom lens last year. It's one of the IS models too and man does it take incredible pics. Easy to use too.
I'm very fond of my Canon Rebel Digital SLR.... It's the best camera I've ever owned, for all situations really.
