What's the difference between using cleavers vs conventional props? Will cleavers work on a 38' boat with 454's or 540's? I have found several sets of cleaves lately and the 19's I have now aren't working very well. THANKS!

I have often wondered if my boat is proped right. I am running 3 blade cleavers on mine. Sucks out of the hole but does pretty good for the top end. I think your going to need some bigger power to run the 38 with cleavers and I'm not even sure it would work. Courious to what the answer is.

The cleavers will suck down low & suck at the docks & suck in reverse.

Compared to a round-ear propeller there is a night & day difference.

Specifics about the boat and the usage determine the answer.

In general, very efficiant boats needing little bow lift enjoy cleaver props more than other set ups.
