This morning on MSNBC morning business show they were interviewing an oil analyst and he said by 2012 a barrel of oil would be $200 and a gallon of gas $7.50 per gallon. I cannot believe we got our selves into this mess. You would think oil the embargo of 73 and 79, the gulf war of 91 and the current war (all oil related) we would of made this country energy independent. We call ourselves a super power, and we import everything, including food. I guess the only people boating in a few years will be the rich! So much for the little guy.....

we should own a few but instead we give them money because we invaded them (that makes us idiots in my book!!)

if we want to become energy independent, then we need to drastically reduce our oil dependency. this means moving to smaller more fuel efficient/alternate fuel vehicles for daily drivers, getting rid of non necessity fuel burners (boats, atvs, etc), using public transportation when possible & change our home lifestyle. but very few of us want to make that commitment.
buddy of mine at work just bought a prius. pretty slick car & he gets 50mpg. i chose to buy a boat that has a 200g tank & requires 91 oct. so now looking for a lil honda to drive to & from work to help reduce the $65 i am puttin in the tank each week. so i cant complain because i chose to have fun instead of be responsible.
Exactly Brian!!!!
I was supposed to be dead 15 years ago......

....... Had I known I was going to be around this long, maybe I would have been more responsible to the planet!
BRB..... have to dispose of some oil from the car ......The neighbors said they do not ever want to SEE me pouring used oil in their yards again. I do comply.....they don't wake up for another hour!!!

Just wait till you see how much that twin blown 454, 550 Hp X 2, will burn. I'd carry a couple of oars.
Last weekend Nancy and I rode the Goldwing to the lake and back. Didn't hurt either one of us. Some poor Arib as wondering where his next meal coming from... I doubt it. But we did cheat them a little. Cruiser gets about 22 and the bike will get 40mpg...

yeah the tahoe gets about 12/15 mpg city/highway so by getting to a honda at around 22/28 mpg i am almost doubling my mileage. the diff can then go in the boat. lol.

Exactly my thoughts. We should just take Iraq as ours at this point. The Middle East already hates us. I realize it is not that simple but $.50/gal gas would be nice.

I just spent several weeks at the port in Louisiana that services the oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. There are hundreds of supply vessels operating 24 hours a day seven days a week to supply the offshore rigs. The oil companies would make a fortune at any profit margin based on our demand. You would not believe the huge cost to the oil companies to keep the oil ports up and running and the thousands of non oil company jobs provided. Everybody is making money - not just the oil companies.
