I am trying to figure out what pitch bravo 1 prop would be recommended for a '97 Baja 29 Outlaw with single HP500 (carb). I bought the boat with a 502 mag EFI and it had a 21 pitch mirage which seemed to be about the right pitch. I bought a 22 pitch labbed Bravo 1 to run on it but decided to do a motor swap and run a HP500. Will the labbed 22 be enough or will I need to look at a 24? I know water time will tell the truth but I am ging to be getting this thing back together just before memorial weekend and would like to get as close to the correct prop as possible. Thanks in advance.

Stick with the Mirage try a 25 or 27 the boat will work well with a left hand rotation. I had a 97 with a single 502 ran a left rotating 21 Yamaha worked the best, I tried a lot of props. You can usually buy the left's for a lot less than a right rotating prop. Good luck. I would estimate your top speed @ about 61mph GPS maybe a little better with some prop work.

Post a pick of your boat, it might be mine. Teal graphic's all white deck. LOW BID

I appreciate the advise. That was about the speed I was thinking with a three blade and I may end up sticking with a Mirage. I think a four blade might help me get out of the hole a little better with people on board. Here is a pic of the boat, all white with no graphics.

Our 454 Mag 29 Single had a 19 pitch Mirage + on it, I would think a 23 or 25 would be enough for a 500hp. Our boat ran right at 5,000 with at 52 on GPS with the 19.

A 29 single has virtually no bow rise when planning, they just go. You might see a little with a 4 blade but not much. Nice looking boat.

The 24 B1 would be the correct test propeller. Lagging it with extra rake would give you the best of both worlds. You may even need a 26 if Labbing is in the future.

I got my prop from BB and they know what they are talking about. I have a 24P LH Hydro you could test out if your at the lake. Nice looking boat, I am fan of all white.

Havent talked yet. I figured I would get the 24 B1 and do some testing then get with you on the results and see if we could tweak a few more MPH out of it. I just didnt want to wast my time with the current labbed 22 B1 if it was by far the wrong prop. I think Memorial weekend will be my first weekend out and i will get some test results to you.

I wont have the boat back together until the middle of May but I will hit you up if I have not found a prop yet. Thanks for the offer

I put a 24 Bravo 1 on last weekend and only hit 4500 RPM. I had to arrange some late minute exhaust tips/mufflers and a smaller flame arrestor which I think restricted the output of the motor a little, so I dont think i was making anywhere near the capable HP of the motor. In any case I think the 24 may be a liitle much. Would a 23 Mirage fit the bill? Or would labbing the 24 be the way to go? I am taking my GPS next weekend with the new flame arrestor and exhaust installed so I will have some more accurate test numbers.

If you're only at 4500rpms, the labbed 22 should be just about right. If you can get the stock 24 to about 4700rpms, then I would look at getting it labbed to pick up some more rpm. You want to run the 500 at 5200rpms at WOT to make max power.

Make all the engine, exhaust, CG adjustments first so as to get the best data for the final propping recipe.

I think Griff gave the answer I would have. If you get it labbed keep in mind that to get the lift they will have to add some cup. I have a 24 Outlaw with a 525SC. Just had the Bravo 1 28 pitch labbed to a 27 and added cup and it has brought me out of the water more because of it. Runs like a stripped azz ape. Outlaws have such a deep X dimension that you need to get the beast up and out of the water.

That is a good point. I will know a little more after some more testing this weekend. 525 in a 24!!!! I would imaging that thing runs.

and its my old 24 Outlaw:mrgreen: They put the 525sc in a year or 2 after they bought it from me. They've got that boat dialed in. Ran 79mph in the Shootout last year.

I was able to get out Yesterday at 8 am and see some good water. 2 on board with a little under a 1/4 tank of fuel. I did not have my GPS (forgot it at home) but the most important number was I hit 4800 RPM's with the 24P Bravo 1. I will get more accurate data the next trip out.

Would a Revolution 4 23P prop would gain the additional 400 RPM's needed for WOT? I know it is only 1 pitch difference than my 24 Bravo but the diameter is also smaller. Also is the Revolution prop even suitable for a
29' 500HP application? Right now I have the ability to purchase either a 23P Mirage or the 23P Revolution. I am just trying to test different props to get the RPM's where they need to be. Thanks in advance.

The Rev4 doesn't give the bow lift of Bravo prop. I would get the 24 Bravo labbed. I'm betting you will need all the bow lift you can get, at least I did on my 28 pantera.

I think labbing the 24 is my best bet. I am trying to find a good prop to put on the boat while mine is being worked. I think I will try a 23 Mirage and see how the 3 blade performs.
