View Full Version : Leverage Vs. Frenzy???

I have not used the Leverage but have heard great things. I have however used Frenzy for a couple years and really like the Wax and wash/wax combination. I realize they are completely different products from a formulation point of view but has anyone used both products and have any comments?

My new ride is feeling a little naked and would like a good coat soon!

I used frenzy the last 2 summers. I thought I would try leverage this year. I got it applied last week and the boat looks great. It was SUPER easy to apply. Havent splashed the boat yet so the big test is coming. Frenzy was great after we used the boat. A quick wipedown with some quickie sauce and the boat looked awesome!! Think I waxed it with frenzy 2 a summer and always got comment on how sharp the boat looked. So leverage has big shoes to fill this year.

I have Leverage, I plan on using it Next week but I never have used Frenzy...

The wax went on easy and regular uses of the wash/wax made even my old 357 formula look great.

Each company promotes almost the exact opposite in components. Hmmm

I've got a few bottles of Leverage left over from the boat show. Let me if you want some.

I've used them both and I prefer the Leverage. The frenzy didn't seem to last as long. Frenzy said the protection was still there, just not the slickness. The Leverage stays slick longer and is easier to apply and wipe off.

Hey Formula,

Just use water and a towel to keep it clean with Leverage. No wash/wax needed unless you keep it in the water for an abundant amount of time(3 weeks or more straight). If you do then I recommend Interlux boat soap because it won't strip.

If your boat is looking faded because the current wax is worn off then you may need to buff first. Certain chemicals can cover up fading/oxidation instead of removing them. If it's still looking great then just polish.

The wax/polish debate was hashed out on OSO back in 06'. I prefer not to bring it back up or even point out some of the events on MWBP. I'm here to help everyone out now and you can also find the Leverage Polish, Oxidation Remover, Vinyl Cleaner & Conditioner in the MWBP store.

I have used both and prefer Leverage over Frenzy. Leverage made a black hull-side boat look great for a full season (one coat). In addition, the customer service nod also goes to Leverage.

but everyone agrees speed is better than a cruiser!

Does this about sum it up?

Thanks H2OBoy and Donnie and everyone else. I guess it's time to buy some Leverage!

I'm planning on using Leverage on mine once the new paint is done...Donnie how long after a boat has been painted can you use it? The last thing I want to do is cause any problems with the new paint job...

I noticed down in Miami that you were doing a lot of the new boats, some of which just came from the painters and would like to know the best ways to keep it looking like new...

Might need an expert to show me how to apply it properly...[smilie=trink39]

LOL You sending the plane ticket?

I usually like to wait a week before applying. It will keep it looking brand new season after season. Remember, keep it clean with only water and a towel. You can also reapply the Polish at the end of the season as well. I also suggest a mooring cover depending on where you're keeping it during summer. An exposed dock will allow the sun to hit it 24/7.

Jeff Jassby put the Polish on soon as his left the Nor-Tech factory and the boat looks Perfect!

Are you planning on any out-of-state events this season?

Donnie,

We've been missing connections lately, but I believe that you or Top Notch Marine recommended Interlux soap for cleaning the boat since it wouldn't remove the polish. Is this correct?

I've received all my Leverage supplies and I'm getting ready to dig in soon. I have what appears to be mild oxidation, so I got the oxidation remover. What do you suggest for cleaning it prior to using the oxidation remover? Is Interlux sufficient?

I'll be going over the entire boat and using Leverage products on everything I can. I'm sure I'll have more detailed questions about what to use and where.

Thanks,
John

Hey John,

Sorry we haven't touched base. The phone has been ringing off the hook and I'm getting Marine Clean geared up for Spring. I've got Dr. Jeff and a few choice others taking care of the ordering now. I've come to realize that I can't do it all now, so the distributors are handling the retail side.

Unless the boat is filthy, I use water and a towel before I buff. I usually rinse the boat down good, dry it then start buffing. The Interlux will work just fine if it is dirty. After I buff then I rinse off again, wipe down then apply the polish that evening or the next day. I always like to recheck my work and make sure the boat is completely dry before I polish.

Thanks, Donnie

Hey Donnie hows it going..just joined....GUYS..I was a big Frenzy user 1 1/2 years ago...I never had a problem with the product but customer service went by the way side..so I decided to try this Leverage product. It works better, stays on slightly longer, easier to apply, and the customer service is the best. Any questions you have about detailing all you have to do is call Donnie and he is straight up and a pleasure to deal with in the boating world. I use Donnie's product on my trucks, and both boats to our jet ski's. Also he has other products for the interior which I will be using this weekend on the Albury 23...Jeff Jassby

Donnie, I did try the Leather and Vynil cleaner and conditioner today.. Very impressive, better than the Frenzy stuff and also better than Bio-Kleen, which I was sold on. It did not leave a greasy slippery feel like the Frenzy formula, and was slightly softer to the touch than the Bio-kleen formula. Thanks Again. Jeff

Donnie... I left my Leverage in the garage this winter (Chicago area)... will the cold weather affect it? I should have asked in the fall if it had to be stored at room temperature.

I will have to give your other products a try!

Marine Clean

Hey Boomer,

The weather will not effect the products. Even if they were to freeze just let them thaw and you're ready to go. It would take well below 32 to freeze the polish.

Also, I still have some of my first batches sitting on the shelf that I still use today. Just shake well and it's ready to use.

We got the boat out of storage this weekend to get it ready for the summer.
I spent Saturday prepping it mechanically and then Sunday working on outside and interior.
I have used several other marine waxes and have to say that this was by far the simplest wax to put on and get off.
Here are a few shots after of the exterior after the application of Leverage.

Hey Donnie,

I was kinda playing with the polish last night with my drives in the garage and no matter how much I shake that bottle the solids sink to the bottom of the bottle right away rather than mixing. Is this normal or does this batch have issues?

Thanks

Busta, use more wrist action. [smilie=hah] I asked Donnie that also, and he said it was normal. The stuff at the bottom is added just so it will show you where you're applied the wax as it dries. Or something like that.

Leverage wrist action.

The sediment is how it should be. My original formula went on clear and the feedback I received was, 'need haze' when applying, so I added a very light residue. Most customers were used to the old school waxes of hazing while applying, so I added a very light haze and that's what you're seeing it the bottle.

It dosen't affect the performance, so no need to worry about shine or longevity.
