Boating Time Tip from Hawgwild - Don't dive off the side of your boat when it is wet and slippery. Was at Table Rock Lake boating while on vacation and had to take a P dip  . Thought I would make a quick out and dive off the back top side of the boat. My foot slipped into the cleat. When I came out of the water, I thought my foot hurt pretty bad, looked at it and almost lost it. I had a 2" gash in the bottom of my foot with a couple pieces of muscle and a ligament hanging out. Not a pretty site. An emergency room visit, some pain killers [smilie=071.gif] six stiches and crutches later I was on my way. So be careful, even a blunt object like a cleat can ruin your vacation [smilie=011.gif]. Any other stories to learn from out there?

When I was younger I was going to put the skies on while sitting on the side of my buddies boat instead of getting in the water. Well, after getting situated I was fixing on sliding off into the water when my trunks caught the cleat.......picture a guy hanging upside down by his shorts off the side of a boat.  After the shorts ripped I fell face first into the water only to surface to a busted lip that I got from kissing the ski. [smilie=071.gif] I'm sure alcohol played no part in that.

I've stuck a cleat in my foot before!! It SUCKS!! The sad part is that 30 days before that, while at PC trying to move around to get a better look at some hooters, I slipped and fell in between our boat and a Pontoon that was tied to us. I guess as my foot wen't down it caught the back corner of the pontoon boat that had already been ripped 1/2 way off, thus leaving a sharp jagged piece of alluminum poking out........Well it sliced (ripped) the arch of my foot open!! Nothing was hanging out, but you could look inside and see muscle, I rapped it in a Red towel (to camo the blood) and away we wen't to get it stitched up. The funny thing is that my Buddies dropped off me and one of my friends at Kelly's Port (it's just down hill from the Hospital) and then took MY Boat and wen't back to PC!!! I guess all is fair...... Anyway after a bunch of stitched and a drain tube installed I was back at it!! (well, Kinda) I did make it to Shooters that night!!!

Damm painfull guys!!!
My little story, liding off the side of my boat one day after loading the boat for the trip back to Minnesota from LOTO, my pinkie and the finger right next to it slid into the cleat and stayed there while the rest of my body kept moving forward. Heard a couple of cracks and got a sick feeling in my stomach. then tried to remove my fingers from the cleat while hanging from the boat, damm did that hurt. Had to drive 13 hours with a throbing hand. At least it happened on the last day of vacation. [smilie=050.gif]

well i was sitting on the swim platform and tried to slide into the water smoothly.... then i felt my foot bump the prop it didnt even hurtbecause i just had the prop redone and it was so sharp it made a fillet out of my inside arch of right foot, pulled myself back on the platform and thought hey not to bad, then the blood started pouring down the back of the boat and through the platform, you would have thought i was chumming for shark!! any way my gal did some macgiver sh*t with a towel and took me over to an old lady's house boat( we were in st.charles) and she hooked me up with a flush and lots of gause, i couldnt go back in the water that day but i was to stubborn to go to the hospital( since this happened 10 min. after we got there) and get stiches, but everything is cool now but i guaaaaaraaaaanteeee i will watch out for that prop from now on.... oh and by the way take ur self to west marine and get some prop sox cause i propbably could have lost the foot if i wasnt so lucky so everybody pleeeease be careful and ill see u at p/c
