Need help Leverage

I have been fighting a battle on the top of my boat where the cover ends. There is a definite line that has formed. I have used the oxidation remover, and used a buffer to try and get it out. The texture is the same between the protected and exposed surface, but it just looks like poo. Would it hurt to use some of the bottom acid in a small space to see if it would take out this coloration? What are your thoughts?

Hi Twanger,

Sounds like you have some sun problems. First of all, I would stay away from any acids to remove the fading. Sometimes they will work, but it's only for a short time and the effects can make the problem worse. You'll think the stain is gone, but it will be back within a few short weeks. Are you saying that you used my Ox. Remover and a buffer and it wouldn't come out? If so, the stain is deep enough that I would recommend a light wetsand for the gelcoat. We've had to use this method on a few boats and it's not as hard as you might think. Please let me know what you've tried and if you would like me to put up a wetsanding thread.

yes I have used your ox remover. Used by hand the first go and then I bought a buffer for the second. I wish I had some pictures. I would really appreciate the wet sanding help. Truthfully it scares me to think about it. Can I just wet sand this line or is it going to open up another line unless I do the entire top? Thanks

No worries. I don't mind helping at all. You'll also need that Ox Remover for buffing after you're finished. I imagine you're working on white gel? You'll only have to do the problem areas if you want. We've wetsanded minor blemishes and light scratches, so small areas will not affect the rest of the finish.
