My genset isn't pumping water. My guess is that the impellar needs replaced. I tried to run it last week in the missouri river and it stopped after a while (river was dirty), but I didn't try to restart it.

It starts but no water is coming out of the exhaust... it automatically turned itself off (water temp).

The genset is a westerbeke 4.5KW ... I would like to replace the impellar next week while I'm at LOTO... does anyone in the area carry parts or should I order direct from Westerbeke?

B Luvr make sure the "trap" is not full of sand. Check where the water comes in and there will be a brass cylinder with a basket inside (two wing nuts on top). Mine will fill completely full of sand and it is a beotch to get the basket out. This could be the problem.

I did my impellar this winter on the genny but I dont have a Westerbeke. Cant help there.

Thanks... I will check it out. I opened the top thinking it was clogged, but water came out as I opened. I assumed it was clear since water started out, but maybe that was the intake to filter.

Bajaluvr,

If your sea strainer checks out ok, then I would suspect the impeller. Glencove or Kellys Port should have the impeller in stock as they are both Westerbeke dealers.....

Thanks!!
