I have older Olympus that is "splash proof" but I gave it to Laura and am looking at the 770 since it waterproof to 2atm so I think that may work better.

I did not know pentax made one so I may have to look at them as well to see the differnece.

I have had nothing buy greta luck with the olympus

I have an older Olympus that is "splash proof" and weather resistant. It has gotten wet, but never submersed in water. Still works fine. From what I can tell, it just uses neoprene seals.

I'd think before any recommendations could be made, you need to specify what you plan to do with this waterproof camera. Are you going diving at 60 feet for an hour? Or do you want one to take pics of the kids at the local pool and might get some water splashed on it?

That is the model I am looking at, to me the pentax was juts fugly and I like that I can get the floating strap so my dumb ass doesn't lose the camera

I was lookng at them so I could take the camera with me when we go out floating around and with the kids at the lake and in the pool

I've told this story many times in the past but my Sony Cybershot DSC-P100 sat in 17' of water for 5 days off the end of Hell Ya's dock and once it dried out it still takes (I think) beautiful pictures.

would that be considered waterproof??

You can bet what brand my next camera will be.

ReefMaster has an awsome one! It's actually a Dive Camera - but Bass Pro carries it! It takes great underwater (to 200 ft.) & land pics! :)

I have an Olympus 770 along with a couple of my friends. I highly recommend one. It takes great pictures and movies. I actually hook about three float style key chains to the camera and bring it with me in the lake or the pool. At the end of the day I wash it off under the sink. You can even take it on water rides at water parks. Oh yeah and it’s very compact and stays charged for the entire weekend. One more thing, I do not work for Olympus but I will give it the "MIKEY LIKES IT" endorsement.

Sony makes dive housing for most of their point and shoots. Housings for Canons are readily available, inexpensive and some have detachable weights so if your just splashing around the camera will float. I have both for diving but the Canon is great for swiming around the boat, just take the weights off and toss in the water, just bobs around waiting for that perfect shot[smilie=071.gif] [smilie=071.gif] Most of the specialized dive cameras sink like a rock in fresh water and the splash proof or 10ft cameras do too.

Just got the olympus stylus tough 6020 for my birthday, looks to be a good quality camera. Time will tell but now action shots around water won't make me so nervous.

I'm sorry to doubt it - but I think we're gonna need more pictures for proof Busta !! [smilie=crazy]

I have three fujifilm Z33 WP - spec said water proof to about 10 ft but built tough,
so I think alot deeper than that - dropped it a bunch of times no problem and at a good price.
Took movies underwater at the great barrier reef.
