I noticed last weekend that I had NO Hot water.
I thought it might auto shut off when the system runs out of water. However I refilled and Still No hot water. May have burned it up.

I wonder where the tank is located. if it is repairable?
Any Info would be appreciated.
Pit.

I have a 1998 .38 special and my hot water heater is located under the floor between the rear seat and the passenger side bolster. If you have the sink/ice maker in the cockpit it is under that. It looks like a real pain in the a$$ to get to. I can lift up my seat coushion(U-shape seating), take out the secret door in the floor and I can see my main battery, gen. battery, water pump(from clean water tank), and then there is the h.w.t. mine is in a white alum. box. Good luck [smilie=banghead.gif] [smilie=smilie_tischkante.gif]

Pit,

There is an electric heatin element in the heater that CAN burn up if you leave the system on without water in the system. I recommend that you dont leave the breaker on while running shore power or generator unless you know for sure there is water in the system. Is this the first time you ve used it? It may also have a heat exchanger on it that takes the warmed up engine water and uses that to heat up water so that you can have hot water while running and even residual hot water for some time after shutting the engines off. Not sure if your is like that or not without looking myself.

The heating element is replaceable as a seperate piece without taking the whole heater out. [smilie=042.gif]

Let me know what you find.

Thanks Tommy, I think that the problem is that It was turned on when the system ran out of water on shore power. Really their is no way to tell when you are out of water till it is to late. I guess if you think you are about out of water don't turn on the heater!!!!
Thats why it need a float off switch. It is a bitch to get hater at LOTO, where we stay, doesn't have a good source. so Youhave to go elsewhere and buy $$$$$gas to get to fill your tank.
