Hello -

29 outlaw with twin 496 mags, will run 68 -70 gps (depending on weather and conditions) at 4500 rpms..I have been told these motors could run up another 500 rpm.

Currnetly running three blade 25p spinning out.

Have tried 25 labbed but didnt really see to much difference except seemed to blow props out of the hole.

What prop should I try ? and spin in or out? what kind of MPH could I expect to see by changing props?

Thanks!

Pete

What do you want to acomplish? More speed or better cruise?
3 blades pretty much suck in my opinion. They are designed for speed & pretty much nothing else.
I ran labbed 26 bravo 1's on my 29 last year. Prior to the work of course.
I ran a best of 73 mph with 454 mags (385 hp) Typically I ran them turning out. Docking was easier, handling was better.
You will see an increase in cruise speed, docking, manuvering, ride & driveability going with a 4 blade.
I'd guess that a 24" bravo one would be pretty good for you, but you may actually need a 26. I'm not sure on how fast a 496 mag can be spun.
Brett is going to be the guy to get an answer out of. He has me going faster than that other Fl. based prop company could have. Plus he knows what he is doing.

Then you need to put on some shorties & boxes. Then you can decide on propellers.

I would think a set of labbed 24 Bravo's would work the best. You probably gain cruise speed and top end would be about the same or maybe a couple more. RPm should go up as well.

I have a 29 with 454/385's and Im spinning them 5,000 rpms and not sure about GPS speed but normally mid 70's on the speedo. [smilie=trink39] I have a set of 25's and they blow out so easy I just keep them in the closet for spares in case I need them. Good Luck

Howdy,

If we Lab the 25's you have to our Baja template and you spin them in, you'll have the best top end speed you can see.

The Rev limiter on the engine is @ 4950.

However, if we go to the 26 B1's and Lab them thin with a specific TE, we will gain cruise by a bunch and get at least the same top end and most likely 2ish more mph on the top.

Brett, If he tries the 25's you did off my 33 Baja will he get a good idea of what 25's will do on his 29 ?

It's probably to late for this season Eddie but, it would still be a great experiment.

Agreed, I think I'll pull them off the boat this weekend to send them in for a touch up. He can try them fresh and see if he needs a set.
