Tommy:
.38 Special has a refrig... that is suppose to work on 12 and 120 volt. I pulled mine last week and found it was wired for 12 volt.
I also noticed a 120 v ac plug on the back, with no place to plug it in. Can I wire it to work off of shore power and 12 volt while off of shore power? I have several spares on the AC panel. should be simple to wire for both
Thanks:
Dennis Calvin
Mine is wired that way. I can use either.
Mine isn't in a Baja, but it is the same way also.
I think all of the AC/DC units are wired to take 110V AC first and 12V DC when AC isn't available.

Mine has the 110V but isn't plugged in either... just 12 volt. It wasn't setup with a 110V outlet in the area, so I would have to run something to it.
Does the 12volt run down the battery much?

It will run it down in a couple of days with good batteries.
Ill run 120 threw the ac main to it.
Ash what if you have both turned on!?

Most brands of 110/12 volt fridges are self switching. They run off 110 volt when available and automatically switch to 12 volt when they don't sense 110 volts. With my Norcold, it runs on 110 volt when on shore power or the genset and automatically switches to 12 volt when neither the shore power or power from the genset is availbale. The only way to actually turn the fridge off is by the switch inside the fridge. You should be able to wire straight to a breaker on the 110 volt panel.

Yeah what he said.
Bluvr----- I am always surprised how little battery the fridge burns up. I run mine for long periods of time and never notice a reduction on the volt meter when I turn on the key. I have never actually run down a battery with the fridge, but I dont leave it on for more than a weekend.

Glad I could be of help!!!!!!! ha ha...you guys are a riot.... That is correct, the fridge is designed to automatically switch from 110 to 12 volt whenever needed. It fine to wire it to the circuit breaker on the AC panel or wire in a 110 receptacle to the switch and just plug it in behind the fridge.
You guys make my job EASY>>>>>> [smilie=042.gif]

I just checked mine again and it does have an outlet nearby for the stove. I pulled the frig and plugged it in... so we'll see how it works. [smilie=071.gif]

I ran a wire to the refrig... and have it on its own breaker and Now it works on both A/C and DC.
