Anyone hear about the poker run at Kentucky Lake June 12? It's $ 40 to join the run. All proceeds go to some power boater that lost his life. [smilie=061.gif]

Haven't heard anything about it but always wanted to make it to Kentucky Lake. Heard a lot about the Quarry. Is it true about being surrounded by "dry" counties? Can you have alcohol on the water?

We had some friends take the river from St. Louis down to Kentucky Lake last summer. They said the lake was amazing but if I remember correctly, they did have trouble getting their hands some booze when they got there.

It is dry around Ky lake. The Quarry is nothing compared to PC. For the most part its around 200 ft deep with a slick rock bottom. Very hard to get an anchor to set. It's also very small about the size two football fields side by side. You won't see any [smilie=eck02.gif] and if your other half is wearing a thong you'll get looked at funny.http://www.kentuckylake.net/pixaround/networkin/rockquarry1.html

We have been there both Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. They quarry is okay. Nothing too outrageous or exciting. The most exciting part is watching everyone jump off the cliff.
Yes, most of lake is surrounded by dry counties. We always stayed more on the northern end and the closest place to get beer is 45 minutes away. You can have alcohol in the dry counties, but are not supposed to consume alcohol in public. So just be careful and hide it if you see the WP. Personal experience - their WP sucks!

I was told you can drink it on the lake but it is wise to put it in a different container than it came in.

The lake itself is nice and it is not anywhere near as crowded as LOTO. It is a nice place to visit, just don't expect a major party (at least from what I have seen of it).
And did I mention earlier the WP suck?! [smilie=101.gif]

Yes the WP can be assholes here but normaly they dont bother you much as long as you keep your cans in cool cup. Kentcky Lake also connects to another lake lake Barkley which is a little smaller. If you make it down just watch the bouys it can get shallow in places.
