I need a couple of propellers. I have a 29 Outlaw with 1" Imco shorties. I've installed Whipples on the engines. Tyler Crockett is saying that I'll probably make peak HP (650) @ 5300 rpm. I currently run 71 mph @ 5100 RPM with 26' Bravo 1's labbed by Julie @ Throttle Up.
What do you think I'll need for propellers? Tyler thinks 28's, but I'm thinking more like 30's.
What do you think?

Hi Jason,
Sorry for the delay in response. I just returned from the Miami boat show. Another great year to be down in Miami during the largest boat show in the world. Every performance boater should try to get there at least once in their lifetime.
First, what are the initial engines we are working with pre Whipples? I do think 4 blade propellers are the correct move. [smilie=126.gif]

I had 454 MPI MAGS (385hp), Tyler says I'll make peak hp somewhere around 5300 RPM.

OK,
I agree 5300 is not only going to be where the hp is made but also a rpm that you won't want to exceed by much with this engine.
I think your probably correct with the 30's. If they are Labbed they will probably put you right where you need to be.
However we have some undertermined issues that make this still a guess. We don't know exactly what hp you will actually be at which determines how much pitch we can swing.
Also I am basing my recommendation off a propeller Labbed by another company. That company has seen changes in their Labbing process since their inception and their growth and knowledge curve.. What I mean is, depending on the vintage of the Lab, the props vary in the standard Lad version.
Bottom line is, we should test with box stock propellers when you are ready. We have everything you will need and can send them out to you. We only charge $30 a set and you can keep them for a week to gain good baseline. There are no strings attached.
Let us know if we can help.

Ok, plans are changing, I'm going to go with some 3" shorties from Hell Ya. They were on his Scarab. Anyway, 5 blades are probably going to have to happen & spacers to get back sown to where I need to be.
I think I'm retrded. [smilie=crazy]
